Help with picture size

I am working on my trip report because once I go back to school this week I will not have time. Anyway, I was trying to upload pictures with it. I went to tinypic (Thank you Colleen), but when I tried to submit I got a message that said the pictures were too big. I thought tinypic automatically made your pictures smaller. True? What do I need to do because I'm confused! :? Thanks!

If you can resize your images before you upload them it saves time -
I would recommend that first, and I would keep the max width or height to 800 pixels.
If you can't resize before, you may be able to do so on upload depending on the website.

But - you can also attach photos now directly in your posts - I think the limit is five, and the max width is 800 pixels. You use the "Upload attachment" tab below the posting form to do this -

I plan to post details when I get back from the VI about this.

From what I can see the free version of tinypic won't let you upload a photo that's bigger than 1mb. My phone and my cameras all create photos that are bigger than that, because the quality is set for high resolution or "best" quality just in case I decide to print.

So if you want to use the free version to upload your photos, you'll need to resize them first. There's a free software that let's you do batch resizing so you can resize more than one at a time, but have to look for the name. The online photoediting softwares from google, Picasa and piknik, will resize, but for now only one at a time. They also give you upload options, but maybe not for as many sites as tinypic.
