Day 3
We got up early and enjoyed coffee outside. Then Bert treated us to eggs over easy, bacon, toast and OJ.
Our daily morning view with our house guest, Iggy:

After breakfast we gathered up our stuff to hit the beach! Off we go stopping at all the overlooks on our way to the beach.

First overlook.

After looking at the parking situation we decided on Hawksnest for our first beach. We located a little shade for Bert and camped out. After a little noodling we got out the snorkel equipment and gave it a try.

The water was a little rough but we had a short snorkel and saw some fish and pretty coral but not much more. We experienced one crisis at the beach – our Canon D-10 underwater camera decided to fail! Yes we are sure it was the camera’s fault and no fault of ours. Strike one – this is an unplanned expense.

The beach started getting crowded so we packed up and headed to Skinny Legs for lunch and a little shopping. We enjoyed the Blue Cheese burgers and one hold out that had the daily special along with a cold Presidentes.

Couldn't wait for food porn, so this is a half eaten Blue Burger:

We drove back on centerline road. After dropping Marge and Ann back at Villa Bijou Bert and Barbara head off to the ferry to head to Charlotte Amalia to look for a new underwater camera. We were fortunate enough to get to the dock in time to catch the 3:45 ferry eliminating the need to take a taxi from Red Hook. We got off the ferry and headed directly to Boolchands to look at cameras. They had two options – the canon D-20 (takes the place of the D-10) or the Nikon. We decided on the Nikon since we have had failures with both Canon and Olympus underwater cameras. We headed back to the ferry dock and arrived there with 30 minutes to spare to catch the CA ferry back to Cruz Bay. Now we are all set for our BIG Boat Day with Captain John tomorrow.

Bert prepared flatiron steaks and veggies for dinner. They were wonderful
