Looking for info on this car rental agency. Good experiences/bad experiences? Plenty of parking in town? We booked our villa through Vacation Vistas and they offer a 10% discount to their clients.

Thanks.

We just got back two weeks ago and used Cool Breeze with Lisa. No problems at all. However, they do not have parking in town. One thing that we did do was vacuum out the car at the end of the week over by the tennis courts/car wash. It cost us $5 but was worth it not having to worry about getting charged $75 if it was too dirty/sandy by their standards.

Parking can be an issue. One of the great things is that the entire Cruz Bay town is very small and within walking distance. Just keep driving around and you will find something... Just make sure that you park in a parking zone. The police are really enforcing this.

Thanks Ryn. Do you think it was worth the 10% off not having a parking lot to use? I am thinking that we should pay a little more to an agency that has a parking lot and not have to drive around looking for a parking spot.

Oh I wish I had not seen this. I am renting from Cool Breeze next week and had no idea they will not let me park there and I did not get any discount. I guess thanks for the warning but in the future that is not gonna work.

When we got there, they said that they didn't have parking. You'll see when you get to their lot, they have to go get the cars from somewhere else...

I personally don't think it really matters about the parking. We really didn't have too much trouble finding a spot if you don't mind driving around a bit. A couple of times, we rented a spot after 5:30 p.m. in a lot downtown for $10. Otherwise, we always were able to find a spot somewhere. Options were Mongoose Junction, Lumberyard area, up the hill from the Beach Bar along side the road by cematary... All were within easy walking distance to town.

We were supposed to have a vehicle, but mid-vacation the battery died (such an easy thing to deal with up here, on STJ - a PITA). Cool Breeze was the cheapest, so we went with them. They came to the house and picked us up, and did the same on the return. We parked in their tiny lot at night without incident. It was October though, so not too busy. We have used St. John Car Rental and Denzil Clyne before. We noticed no big difference.

I've used Several different ST rental places and I used Cool Breeze in November because thet were the only one that had a cheap 2 door Vitara on very short notice. They were fine to deal with. We rarely come back to Cruz Bay when we're there, so parking was not an issue. I will say that the Suzuki had around 39k miles on it, which is a lot for a rental. I couldn't have cared less, but I'm pretty easy to please. It started. It ran. It stopped. They do have a reputation on this board for being pretty nasty about charging a fee for too much sand on return. We always clean our rentals out before returning them.

When we went with our whole krewe, they rented 3 cars from Cool Breeze I think. I think they were all Liberties. Everything was fine except that one had ants in the a/c and when you would turn it on, they blew all into the car. My brother eventually got rid of them all.

Oh, one other thing, when we first got there, they didn't have the Liberties we had reserved and could only give us one Liberty, a Grand Vitara and a safari truck. Got us the Liberties the next day.

We had rented from Courtesy like we always do because of being able to park in their lot.

None of us had any problems though. We just like being able to park in the lot.

p.s. Cat may be able to tell you more about Cool Breeze on that trip as they had one of the Liberties.
