Hurricanes & travel insurance

I just spoke with CSA and they said "covered" reasons included mandatory evacuation or public announcement evacuation. If they were shutting down the ferries, airport, or it wasn't safe, would the USVI issue one of these? Would I be covered do you think? Since we are heading down in August I want trip insurance, but want to make sure what I'm worried about is covered!

BacktotheIslands....I was wondering, I have never purchased trip insurance before but am considering a trip in October and was wondering how much trip insurance runs?

Vacagirl, I purchased insurance from CSA for my upcoming trip. The standard policy cost 3.7% of the $$ amount I chose to insure. If I remember correctly, the "cancel for any reason" option was twice that cost.

On CSA for our trip it was just over $100, but in the case of a hurricane warning it would NOT cover canceling. I called insuremytrip and they said that was not the best insurance for hurricane coverage specifically. They gave me 4 that would cover you in the case of a warning. The ones they suggested were Travel Safe classic or classic plus, or Global Alert preferred or preferred plus. Those ran $50 - $60 more, but if hurricanes are what I'm worried about I guess that's the one to get. :? Hope that helps. I'd call and ask them.
