Well I thought with only 10 days to go till our trip to St John that I would be estatic and trying to plan every detail....
However...with the death of my husband's boss/friend/future brotherinlaw with a very quick battle of five weeks with pancreatic cancer....
and now with the shooting in Auburn which included three kids from our town...Two of which graduated with my daughter...
all this sadness overshadows our trip....
really hoping for some peace encountered only with a beach vacation....

I am very sorry to hear of all this tragedy and sadness in your life recently, but believe me when I tell you that St. John heals the soul. You will feel much better when you put your toes in that turquoise water.

I hope you find some peace on the island. We spent our last trip recovering from the death of boyfriend's son (injuries received in Iraq). STJ helped him cope and deal with his loss - it gave him a lot of time to think and try and make sense of it all. We spent a lot of the trip talking, crying, and laughing but came home more at peace. As hard as it seems, life marches on....

Wow Cbama that sure is a lot to deal with. We had a Really Really bad year in 2010, with multiple losses of close friends and family members. I had a hard time packing and planning because as part of my grief I was dazed and distracted. When we did get to STJ in Jan of 11 the healing began. The Sea will sooth your soul and the island will warm your heart.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. What a tragedy for your family, your daughter, and the community. I will be keeping you all in my prayers. I hope your trip brings you much needed peace.

STJ has a way of healing all it won't make the hurt go completely away but it has a way to put into a different place

thanks again...
had a little encouraging news today...
her classmate that was shot in the head was taken off ventilator today, held up two fingers in response to Nurse's command. The bullet did not penetrate the brain, but he does have bone fragments in brain. So praying he will be able to heal...still in critical condition....
events like these tend to bond a community together..
so ready for the healing effects of St John....
