One More Day Until First On Island Vacay....

I'm sitting here on the couch with a million things going through my mind.

Did I pack enough? I have 1 carry-on and 1 checked bag for 2 adults for 10 days.

How much cash do I need? I'm going to use my card for everything except taxi's, ferry, tips, and the Soggy Dollar.

Do I need to bring food? I'm bringing 2 boxes of my favorite cereal bars that are hard to find here so more than likely won't be there.

Do I need to bring skeeter spray? Nah, gonna get the West Indies stuff there.

Boarding passes printed. Passport, DL, and insurance cards are ready.

Have to take dog to the vet and pack my son's things to go to his dad's.

Extra camera cards, sunscreen and beer huggies packed.

Then I stop and think to myself......I'LL BE ON ISLAND TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care if I forget anything (except $$$ and passport) 8) .

Trauma Queen:
You may need more cash than you think. There are several smaller places on the island that only take cash. Vie's, Tourist Trap, Smoothie Stand, snack shops at Trunk and Cinnamon, etc...

We generally use the card in shops at Wharfside and Mongoose, but tend to use cash about everywhere else.

There are several ATMs on the island. Although others have said the machines sometimes run out of money, I have never encountered that in our trip each May.

Memory card Tip:
I change mine out each day. that way if one of the cards goes bad, i only lose one days worth of pics.

I noticed you are going to be on the island on the 19th. There is a dog show on St. John called Wagapalooza that nite. http://www.wagapalooza.com/ It is a lot of fun.

Have a great time.
John

John, Thanks for the heads up about the cash. I'll get more out than planned. We've already checked out the waggapalooza! If I could bring a pet home, I would! We'll also look for ya at High Tide Sunday!

surfnh, That's good to know about Soggys. We will be there on Keoka and planned on getting some t-shirts and beer huggies.

Keep the info coming!

Recently returned from 10 days in Coral Bay a little advice on the NO-SEEUMS, SPF 50 sunblock works fantastic for keeping them off you, down side is you get no color but it really works well. Have a great vacation.

Mar, the West Indies itch relief spray is for relief after you've been bitten. We used it this trip, based on a forumite's advice, and it worked GREAT. It is oily though. You should know that in advance.
The same company makes an insect repellent spray. We didn't try that. Either item costs about $7 at Chelsea Drug Store in the Starfish complex.
While you're there, walk up on level to Sam and Jacks, for most delicious sandwiched, home made ice cream, home made chips and tiramisu!

Thanks Minde!
