I am actually just putting out a post to see my ticker! LOL Less than 2 days and counting...
I can't seem to get this silly grin off of my face. Oh, well.
Anyway, I do have a question.
You won't believe it, but, we have NEVER snorkelled Big Maho. But, we want to do it this year.
Any tips on where to head out to, once we get in the water?
Thank you!
Sue (& Jim)

Congrats on your upcoming trip! Unfortunately it'll be a while before the wife & I make it back.
At Maho, I've followed the north-eastern (right side) shoreline. From my experience there's a lot to see!

What Bryan says. Left side is a snorkel wasteland. At least it was in '08.

Yes, Steve, that was our experience in 2009! I was SO UTTERLY disappointed, after researching and reading reports with pics for 6 months, to get in and see no. thing.
It got better, but my first impression was that I was on the wrong island

.
And then we went somewhere else, and I learned a little, and it got better

I think we'll try Maho again this trip.

Walking into the water go to the right. We have seen eels, many angels at the turn headign toward little maho, keep your eye out I have seen an octopus there too!
Straight out we usually see turtles, sometimes hawksbill and we have also seen a spotted ray straight out.

Thank you all!
Would LOVE to see another spotted eagle ray. We have only seen one.
Thank you for the tips. Will keep center - then right, Mon!
As opposed to "Stay Left, Mon!" LOL
Okay - I am getting slightly "island slap-happy". Pity my poor co-worker having to put up with me tomorrow. I will be totally "useless"!!!
As compared to today - when I am only "semi-useless"!!

agree with everything everyone said. I've actually seen a nurse shark at the point. I always see barracuda too. My last snorkel there I saw a family of very pretty squid. Don't forget to visit the turtles in the middle...

I hear ya, Sue. I really need some Ritalin to keep my mind from wandering.
Well, some wandering is ok...just don't want it to get completely lost, so close to the trip

I often stay at Maho Campground. I usually snorkel from Little Maho to Big Maho. There is a lot to see at the point right in between the two. This is one of my favorite places to snorkel.

Again - Thank you, all!
Last day of work and, of course, my computer was down until about 12:00.
Doesn't help the cause much.
Oh, well. Just thinking that we'll be landing in STT at just about this time tomorrow.
WooHoo! Looking forward to checking out Big Maho and Little Lameshur this year. Thanks for all the tips!
And first time at ZoZo's - and bar seats to-boot! Thanks!
