Pre-Trip Musings

Less than 3 weeks and I am struggling to keep focused so...

In 5 years of life on STJ, I have slept in Coral Bay for a total of 14 days while house sitting. It is a foreign land to me.
While on island a few years ago, I was sitting at the Quiet Mon chatting to the man next to me. He had been on island for 20+ years, he lived in Coral Bay. We did not know each other or know of each other, despite having lived on the same very small island for 5 years.
I joke that my version of 8 tuff miles is driving home from Skinny Legs.
I have never EVER been to Vies or Lameshure.

I like the sunrise. It is that quiet moment when all is right with the world, that moment when the slate has been wiped clean and it is yours to draw upon. I am looking forward to sunrises.

900 feet about sea level, you say? That says to me that my view is going to be awesome all day every day. Even if it rains, I think it will be cool to see Tortola fade into the clouds.

Sailing out of Coral Bay with White Wing is something that I am really looking forward to. Seeing the island from a different viewpoint is going to be great.

I suspect this trip will involve a lot more pictures than I have been taking. When you stay in the same area, you already have pictures of everything, so I am guessing my camera will be working overtime.

I am looking forward to this trip, almost as if I was traveling to a new destination.

18 days to Coral Bay…that would make a great book title!

We were absolutely smitten with our Coral Bay views in February. We stayed at Bay Rum Breeze and after spectacular sunrises every morning and watching the evening light change over the mountains and the BVIs, I think we are converted!

We enjoyed Vie's (first time for us) very much. I suggest taking your own chairs as most of her loungers are missing at least 30% of the straps.

I thought we would feel a little too far removed from our normal Cruz Bay evening routine but we didn't. We really enjoyed Aqua Bistro and Miss Lucy's for dinner.

It was really nice to have easy access to our favorite beaches. Driving through town works on my nerves sometimes. The nights we did go to Cruz Bay, we would leave early enough to have a nice drive via North Shore Road while it was still light out.

I don't know that I could ever stay "all the way out" on the East End but we are definately going back to the general Coral Bay area.

I can't wait to hear about your "first" trip!

I agree, we stayed on the Cruz Bay the last two years after staying in Coral Bay the first 4 trips. It is like a new vacation destination! Funny isn't it? The island is not that big! But we will return to Coral Bay next year, it is quiet, friendly and wonderful. As annoying as the sunrises can be, they are spectacular! And I can't imagine anywhere not having a wonderful view! (Although we stayed in Blue Heaven Rendezvous and WOW the views were awesome!) You will enjoy your time, Larrys is fun, the Aqua Bistro is a friendly local bar and has wonderful food for dinner. Skinnys is, well Skinnys! And I'm sure you'll have a great villa to take advantage of - when not at the beaches! Can't wait to hear the after trip musings! Have fun - watch out for donkeys and goat they are everywhere!

looking forward to hearing about your trip when you return!! from your stay on the "other side"

we are also staying on Coral Bay side...we are used to driving an hour for dinner out at home...so I hope driving a few nights back to Cruz Bay won't be a big deal.

know you will have lots of fun....
