The excitement begins

Less than 3 weeks and we will be back. We had dinner with our traveling friends last night and that really helped to build the excitement.
So, at 3 weeks out, what is on your list?
I have to mail my boxes, get the house ready for the petsitter to stay, call Rachel to confirm (and catch up), fish out the passports, and start packing.

I always start packing early, I think it helps with the anticipation.

What is on your countdown list?

We are 4 weeks out.

We still need to decide on whether to book Rachel or not. This will be our first trip to St. John's.

Need to book a restaurant for our 25th anniversary. Considering the Waterfront Bistro for the views and for the painkiller cheesecake. We are staying on the Coral Bay side so seeing the sunset would be a nice way to celebrate our 25 years together.

We decided to provision and I got that all taken care with Christy's last week. Costing us an arm and a leg but it will be worth it. We are arriving later than we had hoped and don't want to spend the time shopping for what we need.

We also called and confirmed our car rental last week.

We need to get water shoes this week or next and DH some new shorts. His are all way too big.

I think that we will be able to take a carryon. Only thing that I worry about is the sunscreen. Maybe we can add that to our provisioning list.

Sunscreen on St.John (remember no S)is crazy exensive. I would consider shipping it down ahead of time if you really want to do carry on only. That is what we do!

We have found numerous bottles of sunscreen at many of the rentals we have stayed at. Check with your rental agent on it. Unless there's a particular brand you prefer in which case we have also bought the empty travel size bottles at Walmart or wherever and transferred the lotion into them for carryon.

That is great idea. I think if we split it between our bags then that could work. Or ship it down ahead of time like xislandgirl suggested.

Are aerosol cans allowed on the carryons? I know that sunscreen comes in sprays too. I have taken spray deodorant before I think.

I only use new sunscreen as it loses it protection if too old.

You can only carry on 3oz bottles so that would be a lot of travel bottles to put together, at least for us, we are pretty fair.
We like the spray sunscreen and have never found it in a bottle that small.

If you are sending a box you need to send it Priority Mail ONLY and send it at least 2 weeks in advance, I was told last week that mail is very slow lately.

We are right behind you XislandGirl. Arriving on the 27th and can’t wait. You know me; my packing will be done the night before. Got pretty much everything we need, just toss it in a bag and go. Just can’t wait to get there, toss everything on the bed and then hit the Beach Bar for day 1 drinks. We’ll unpack later.

If I had three weeks to go, well first off, I would be crawling out of my skin!

I would make an appointment for a hair cut, manicure and pedicure. And then I would pull up the Spice Cam a dozen times a day.

Have a great time! I am definitely jealous!

Where are you staying?

Thanks for the reminder! I forgot that I want to get my hair cut right before we go.

I just had to book an extra night yesterday due to flight changes - how can one be so lucky! :D Still working on a vehicle for an extra day. Have to finish deciding what I'm packing, shop for the Polar Bear cooler, buy an Otter Box and sunscreen, gather paperwork together, call Rachel...

Spray sunscreen is available here and you can expect to pay $13 - $15 per can. Keep in mind almost all charter boats do not want you to use spray sunscreen as it changes the colour of the upholstery (makes it go yellow) and can make the deck slippery so they prefer cream sunblock - some will still let you use it (the smaller boats) but ask you go to the back of the boat and downwind :)

Pia

ps: you are welcome CBama :)

Got my haircut and color this week. All my shopping finished as of yesterday. My bags aren't packed, but I have everything set aside and it will be in the bags this week.

All I have left to do is move the things into the bag, pack up my work files, which can't be done till the day of leaving (I am only doing minimal work while there, hoping to take care of most of it on the flight down), mani/pedi and pick up the cash from the bank.

Hadn't really thought about provisioning. I see Christy's will let you make your own list - is it worth it?
