It has been a couple of years since we have been on island long enough to enjoy dinner.

We have a few restaurant questions:

Is Rhumb Lines still in business? We loved it a few years ago, and are thinking of going back.

Any recommendations or reviews re: Waterfront Bistro? The location looks amazing.

Lastly, is there still a restaurant "above" Waterfront Bistro? We know that The Balcony was there years ago - but, I am not sure if it is still in business.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Rhumblines is open, we had dinner there last week and it was great. We both had the Pad Tai and neither of us could finish, very good but alot of it. Next time we will split one and get an app or salad. Also, I've heard people say the Pad Tai was too spicy, I mentioned this to the waiter and he brought it down a notch for my wife.

High Tide was good. We did not go to Waterfront Bistro.

I believe the balcony restaurant is Spyglass, didn't make it there either.

As far as a bar, we went to Joe's Rum Hut twice to watch the basketball games, we liked that we were only 2 of maybe 6 people total while the Beach Bar was packed.

Another new place for us was Cafe Livin' just behind Hide Tide, simple breakfast options, nice little courtyard feel to it. Perfect for us right before jumping on the dreaded ferry home.

We ate at Spyglass in November, and everyone had good meals. Waterfront Bistro is a great spot. We've eaten there a number of times. My most recent meal wasn't as good (I'm not a seafood eater), but everyone else loved theirs and my other meals had been great. Nice bar if you like to relax with a cocktail beforehand. I sound like a broken record, but Zozo's bar seating is our favorite. The view and food are spectacular. Another restaurant that I think is overlooked is the Equator at Caneel. Great food and terrific view of St. Thomas!

My husband and I went to the Waterfront Bistro on our honeymoon in 2010, and were not too impressed. Nice view though.

Our favorite is La Tapa. Great atmosphere and amazing food.

We also ate at Rhumb Lines. The Pad Thai is great, but as KidLiggy said, it is very spicy. The waiter assured me that if I like spicy food (and I do) that the normal heat level would be fine. It almost burned my tongue off. I would definitely recommend taking the heat down a notch, so you can actually taste the deliciousness.

We absolutely love Banana Deck. The garlic ribeye is amazing.

We also never miss Rhumb Lines or Cafe Roma.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Asolare! It's one of my favorites on the island and I think it's definitely up there with Zozo's as having the best view from a restaurant table. There are tables for 2 against the rail, makes for a very romantic dinner. It's located just up the hill from Mongoose Junction, like if you were on your way to North Shore beaches.

John and I are huge fans of Waterfront Bistro, too, for what it's worth. We've never had a bad meal there, and the wine list is top-notch. We've stopped in a few times just to sit at the bar, have a glass of wine and split an app.
