We are planning our october trip with newbie frIends who are super excited. We think we will be going on a deep sea fishing charter during their stay and I wondered if while anyone has done that if they saw a pod of sea animals- let's say dolphins or .... Eagle rays... would they let you get off the boat and swim if you gave them advance notice that you'd like that and you brought a mask and snorkel? Just curious and Augie said he never saw this ? Thanks John! I would expect nothing less from you, partially because you know how how cool most of us would think seeing these beauties would be (especially didn't us photo freaks), but I just wondered how the fishing excursion captains might react because if we saw a pod of eagles (or even one manta), I want to get in. I don't know if i'm into this fishing stuff at all= never done it at all!

Eagle Ray Lover,
In all likelihood if there are lines in the water they will not let you jump in. The liabiity would be too great for injury. While I have not gone out on a charter myself, my husband and son have gone out on 2 different trips out of St John and have had great experiences. The bonus was that we had incredibly fresh delicious tuna to eat while on vacation.
