If you've ever wanted to know where the car barge is on it's route between STT and STJ or how many cruise ships are in harbor today, or what lucky 1% er is on the beautiful yacht anchored off of St John? Well there's an app (and a website) for that!

You can track these vessels via the Marine Automatic Identification System (AIS) system located at this website. Pretty cool stuff.

I don't see the STJ passenger ferry's, so they must be too cheap to have an AIS transponder on board.

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/

Also, they have an app for iPhones at the Apple App Store. Search for the app: marinetraffic

The free app will do you no good, but the correct app is $3.99

Have fun boat tracking

Ok, that is officially cool. When I sit on the deck in 3 weeks with my binoculars in hand, I will now know what I am gawking at! Thanks for the link.

Not much privacy left in the world - but an amazing collection of data and extremely interesting site to explore with a lot of features.

I see the Seadream is off Cruz Bay. If we were to cruise, It would be on one of these 250 or so passenger liners.
