For those looking for a book by a VI author and set in the VI, Glassbottom Days by Willie Wilson is a good one. It is his memoir of growing up on St. Thomas, with interesting trips to STJ and St. Croix.

I got mine at St. John Spice, or you can order it from Amazon.

Neysa,
Thanks for the book recommendation; I'm always looking for something island inspired to read when on St. John. Enjoyed your pics and report too:)....mia

I finished that book about a week ago, and really enjoyed it.

Just by coincidence, after finished it, I went to the VINP archaeology blog, which I had not visited in a whiile. They have a post on how they were recently trying (unsuccessfully) to find the same cemetary on Hassel Island that he talks about visiting in the book.

I got a case when they were published and still have most of them left - I will put them on sale.

"Night of the Silent Drums" by John Lorenzo Anderson

To the best of my knowledge, it's out-of-print but I think the The Elaine lone Sprauve Library and Museum has a couple of copies and maybe Maho Bay or Estate Concordia has one. Beware. It's depressing but IMHO a MUST-read for any visitor to Love City.
