I was wondering if that was happening--the water is much rougher where we are than yesterday. Change of plans for the day!

How long does a north swell typically last? Several days?

here are pics of the swell hitting northwest Puerto Rico, like right now....of course it will be smaller for STJ, blocked somewhat by BVI.....

This is the forecast for Cane Garden Bay, looks to peak today, smaller tomorrow....back to normal for Thu into Fri. Not sure what that means for STJ, could be fun at Cinnamon?

oh yeah, totally sick! When we were there for the holidays in 2010 it was like this every freaking day, actually too big for us....our kids were in, luckily they lived to tell the story. My wife and I were back again for 2 weeks this past January, nice little 3-4' long board rollers the entire trip, lots of fun.

Man, I bet you could surf at Cinnamon today, has to be a small swell there at low tide over that reef in front?

My daughter was on Jost today with Captain Rick from Cimmaron and when she was trying to get on the dingy a huge wave hit and she went over board, she has a huge road rash from the surf on her leg, and bruises, and a bruised ego since her bathing suit top also went for a ride!!

The waves were HUGE yesterday. It was a little disappointing. We headed to Salt Pond, but so did everybody else. We got a good, shady spot because it was so early, but eventually a couple even set up Behind us with their towels not two feet away. Seriously?

We are going to north/west PR (Isabela)a week from tomorrow. Hope things calm down a bit!!

We were at Salt Pond yesterday too, but didn't stop at the beach--too crowded. We didn't get there until 10ish. Instead John and I continued on to Blue Cobblestone and had the place to ourselves. I have never seen that many cars parked at Salt Pond!

It seems a little bit calmer today. Yesterday when we drove by Maho it was a mess! The water had come up over the road in the night and sand was everywhere. I am guessing visibility is still pretty poor for snorkeling on the North Shore today. Visibility at Blue Cobblestone was crystal clear--plus we found an eagle ray and a turtle.

The trade winds are always blowing sideways up by Isabela, out of the northeast.....you'll have cleaner waves in Rincon at Maria's and Domes, west facing breaks where the wind is coming off land. Have fun!
