My husband and I are headed to Nassau for the first time this July. We got a great deal at the Sheraton using our Starwood points - 4th night free!

Can anyone recommend things to do/excursions, places to eat while we are there? Also is it better to rely on public transportation, or should we rent a car?

I also found these two excursions online - is one better then the other?

Any help is very appreciated!

We stayed at the Sandals just up the street. We used Public Transportation. Very inexpensive. I think we had to take a cab over to Paradise Island, but the buses everywhere else. There is also a water taxi from the straw market area that will take you over to the Atlantis.(Very expensive food, but great aquarium/water features)

We loved the area called the "Fish Fry" also referred to as the Arawak Cay. My wife became addicted to the fried Conch! You will be very close to it. There are several places to eat there. All of them are good.

I do not have info on the excursions.

Have been there a couple of times, would highly recommend going to the Atlantis, get a day pass to look at all the aquariums, check out the gorgeous beaches. they are all different prices, with or without the water ride deals.....we did ours without was around $30.00/person, such a surprising fun thing to do......

I just read that the day pass to the Atlantis is $110 per person? I'm not sure if that's worth it....

I also found 2 more excursions that caught my eye:

The Fast Ferry to Harbour Island

Or the Powerboat Adventure:

Too many to choose from!

Stuart Coves has really nice snorkeling or dive excursions. I've used them several times and was never disappointed.
I have, also, taken the ferry to Harbour Island. The pink sand beach is really cool. You have to rent a golf cart... that adds about $50 and the restaurants are moderate to expensive. I paid $18 for a hamburger and fries.
