The plan is to get married in St John in April of 2013 and we've decided on a villa......

Can't wait to come back to St John.

What is everyone's thoughts on travel insurance? We are planning to stay for two weeks and it's a pretty large expense for us.

I always use insuremytrip.com. It enables you to compare different policies from different companies. Just pay attention to stuff you care about. Aside from basic cancellation due to medical etc., I care about medical evacuation costs and trip delays due to weather (we fly out of a snowy place). Anyway, go to the site and play around with it and you'll figure it out quickly and get a sense of what it will cost.

I'll be the one dissenter on travel insurance. I'm not telling you not to get it, but we've been to STJ 9 times and never once bought it or needed it.

My husband and I visited the villa you're renting while it was under construction and the owner is a poster here, if you weren't aware.

I don't get travel insurance unless I'm going during hurricane season or it's snowy here.

For trip insurance.... What value do you put on piece of mind? IMHO it's worth it, the only thing worse then having your HM postponed or delayed is having to pay for it anyway.

I was just thinking about you guys and when the wedding will be. The villa looks beautiful. I can't wait to see the beautiful photos you will post.

Re insurance: I don't usually get insurance but I have used insuremytrip.com . Insurance can give you peace of mind. And if you have elderly or sick relatives-that's another reason to buy the insurance.
