Vehicle for 7

I am planning a trip with 6 other women in my family in late June. I am the only ready and willling driver. Will 7 women (none real big) fit in one of the larger vehicles available in STJ? And can you take anything with you, like chairs, cooler, etc?
And if anyone has driven one of these, how is it up those switchbacks and how is parking?
I probably don't have a choice, but I just wanted to get some opinions out there.
Thanks!

The family we were with rented a Jeep Commander and their designated driver had no problems anywhere on the island. And we did some serious exploring.
Too bad no one else in your group wants to drive. We had 2 vehicles with our group and it was a lifesaver when one group wants to do x while the other wants to do y.

Don't laugh but we rented a safari truck for June when there will be 6 of us. Just don't think a cooler, ect, and 6 chairs would work. We figure everything will fit with the safari truck. It should be a hoot. We did not want to rent 2 vehicles because the vac is our treat for our grown kids and we had to cut cost someplace.

Hey Sea-Nile,
Not sure how comfortable you would be, but when we had 6 adults we rented the open truck,It has a short bed that can easily hold 6 adults in the back & cooler, chairs, beach bags the works. It was perfect for a group of adults even with 4 heavy packers
It was easy to handle & drive, so I am told.

Two years ago we rented a Jeep Commander and that worked out well. However, last year we could not get one so rented a KIA Sedona mini-van and that was a little larger. We had lots of luggage and two car seats. We stay on STT, but we were back and forth on the car barge and we did well on the switchbacks even when the roads were wet. Both have the capacity for 7.

Scary!
I'd rent a van on STT and bring the clan over on the barge. You'll be fine as long as there are no checked bags!
Cheers, RickG

I did 6 in a mini van once.
We rented on STT and took the barge. The biggest challenge was the trip over and back with the bags, the day to day with beach equipment was not a real problem. We went all over the island and never missed the four wheel drive.

What is scary, Rick, me driving?
I have never rented on STT. We will have a few checked bags but are staying at Grande Bay so some can walk to the ferry and the vehicle can take the luggage.
What about a Dodge Durango or a Ford Explorer. We won't need to take much to the beach.

Hi !
We have rented a Durango on STJ as well as an Explorer on STT. Never had a problem with either one on STJ. Had plenty of room for 6 going anywhere we wanted...both had 4 wheel. Going to do the same in June. But we will be getting 2 since we are going to have a total of 10 this time. Getting 1 Liberty and 1 of the larger ones. Have a great time!
