Hello! We are planning a trip to St John and are looking at villas. Has anyone ever stayed at Giftt Hill Garden? It is reasonably priced but seems a little older...thoughts? How far is the drive from the villa to Cruz Bay?

Also, I am an avid runner. I know I will be on vacation so I am not too concerned about running every day, but would like to go for a few jogs while there. Is there anywhere on the island that I could go for a run? I was in St. John about 10 years ago, and from what I remember most of the roads are very steep and curvy and wouldn't be suitable for jogging.

Hi, I stayed there in the late 90s. I went with a large group so we had the house and the garden suite. I stayed in the garden suite and loved it at the time. The views were incredible and it was clean. It has its own deck, a wraparound if I recall correctly. I remember standing on the deck the day I left thinking that I would never be in a more beautiful place. Lucky for me, I'm finally returning in 22 days!

That being said...
The garden suite is actually downstairs from the main home; therefore you can hear all of the noise from upstairs. It didn't bother me as we were in the same group, but I remember thinking how awkward it would be if we did not know the people who rented upstairs. Therefore the pool is also shared.

In my opinion, it may be worth it to spend a bit more and have your own place.
