Can you provide any further information about a private charter (plane) to Anegada? I did yet another search and didn't come up with much. I have yet to figure out a way to get to Anegada from STJ that does not involve an overnight or even two on another island. We would really like to go there, but it seems difficult to do.

Anegada is a beautiful island and I highly recommend it as a side trip but in my opinion, I don't think that it is a day trip. It is not as close as it seems and it is not that wasy to get to.

Maybe someone else will have a better idea, but as long as I lived on island I never heard of anyone going to Anegada for a day trip.

Yes, I appreciate the fact that it doesn't seem to be a day trip, at least from STJ. You can day trip M-W-F from Tortola to Anegada by ferry. Thought a private charter might be a last resort, but maybe not...

I have been to Anegada both ways - on the high speed boat from St. Thomas, and on a private charter plane. The boat was a real "trip" - we didn't realize we would be stopping in Road Town and changing boats - and then when you land in Anegada it is a mad dash to secure transportation. It was a lot of travel and a long day - but it was awesome. If you have your heart set on Anegada - I would say this is doable. The plane was awesome - you show up, meet the pilot, and 20 or 30 minutes later you are there.

Let the whole page load, and then keep scrolling down for all the info. I would suggest Island Birds as an air charter - we had a great flight both ways with them. If you fly over, call D.W. Jeep Rentals 284 495-2714 ahead of time - they will be waiting at the air field with a car for you and you can be on your way around the island minutes after landing.

Neptune's Treasure folks are a great resource. I would call them and ask what they recommend - 284-495-9439. They are likely to know who has the best deal They have a bakery onsite and could pack a picnic lunch for you.

Renting a car work, but the taxis will drop off and pickup by prior arrangement and that works well too.

Thanks Anthony and Rick. I just looked at Island Birds. They want $100 per hour for wait time. Ouch! I'll do some more research. I was not going to do this on the next vacation anyway. It still seems rather difficult without an overnight on Tortola and the ferry is certainly a bargain.

I'm familiar with that website. I absolutely love it. Tons of information on all of the BVI's.

Neptunes Treasure is a delightful place to stay at and cheap. We did an island hopping trip and included a stay there. Idyllic.

We checked out Neptune's when we were there - they have nice basic rooms, and one detached house around back. They are also close to much of what you will need while there as far as food and beverage go. And the bakery is on premise - I would definitely stay at a place like this - but I don't think the beach on this side is really good for swimming/snorkeling. Of course there are amazing deserted beaches only a short ride away - but Anegada is bigger than you think. The driving is easy because it is so flat, but from one end of the island to the other is a good poke.

The beach at Neptunes is not where I would swim. You can walk around the point to the North and get to some great beaches. But, if you are there for any length of time get a car.

The rooms at Neptunes are very homey. They have AC, king size beds and plenty of water. They were the best rooms and the cheapest of our 2004 trip.
