Stuck here in Lubbock Texas

After being away from the fourm a coupe of days, I am going nuts! I'm in the hotel lobby getting caught up. All the liquor talk is a hoot!!! I feel further away from STJ that ever. Can't wait to get home to Houston and all my Six on the Beach friends and the rest of you. Lubbock sucks! You can't even find a bottle of wine at Walmart. I think Littlecypressgirl is going to regret this.
We'll talk soon.

Cypressgirl:
My husband once had a work colleague from Lubbock. He tried to teach us (lifelong Chicagoans) how to speak Texas. "We like our words. You gotta make 'em loooooooong. Like this: dawwwwwwwwwwg." Every time I think of Lubbock, which I admit is pretty rare, I think of us drinking beer and saying "dawwwwwwwwwwg."
Hope your time there goes fast!

Cypressgirl, welcome to my "dry county" world. Have to drive 45 min through winding national forest roads to the next county! I feel for you! Do I seem obsessed?

Hi Cypressgirl! I'm glad that it's you who is in Lubbock and not me!
OK... That was a bit insensitive of me. I hope you make the best of your time there and head back home soon.

Betty... If you want to send me the code, I can figure it out. I did it on mine, but I don't remember what I did.

Hi Deb,
We have missed you! I know that you would have had something to say in that booze thread!
I will think of you as I have my rum and diet coke.
I was going to have a strawberri daquiri, but was too lazy to make that. Just finding out about how booze makes fruit healthier made me want that daquiri. Maybe tomorrow.
Sorry about the dry County thing.
Terese

Thanks for all the will wishes. I actually found a really cool bar tender that make some pretty good STJish drinks. OOPPSS!! So sorry for the booze comment again. If you were in Lubbock, Texas you'd be looking for a good island drink too.
Do any of you know the KC song: Stuck here at a Holiday Inn in Austin Texas?? This is a hell of a lot worse than Austin!! I only WISH I were in Austin.
Be home tomorrow afternoon and checking the post!!

Listened to it yesterday.
Somewhere In The Sun lyrics
Stuck here at a Holiday Inn near Austin, Texas
Seen all the road that I want to see
God I hate the snow, they even cancelled the show
Makes me long for where I really want to be
Oh I wish I was there tonight on Jost Van Dyke
Sipping on some Foxy's Firewater rum
Or kickin' back with Ivan
With all my friends down in the islands
Wouldn't take much for me to up and run
To another life somewhere in the sun
Got cold fajitas and only one channel on the TV
Andy and Barney on Nick at Nite
Seen an ad for Mexico, God I really want to go
Anywhere out of mind and out of sight
Oh I wish I was there tonight on Jost Van Dyke
Sipping on some Foxy's Firewater rum
Or kickin' back with Ivan
With all my friends down in the islands
Wouldn't take much for me to up and run
To another life somewhere in the sun
Here's a toast to you on the coast and the sailors out at sea
Drink your ales, hoist your sails
Ride the winds and think of me, 'cause
Oh I wish I was there tonight on Jost Van Dyke
Sipping on some Foxy's Firewater rum
Or kickin' back with Ivan
With all my friends down in the islands
Wouldn't take much for me to up and run
To another life somewhere in the sun
Somewhere in the sun

When we came back form our trip I sent a link to my pictures to a few friends at work. One of them called and thanks me for the pictures of JVD and Foxy's. He said that he had heard them mentioned in "that Kenny Chesney song" but had no idea what he was talking about.

You and VaGirl may want to reconsider including me on the Six on the Beach forum girls getaway

I have never heard a Kenny C song and I dont know anything about country music except Faith Hill and her hubby

whats his name were on Oprah! But I have just read KC's lyrics, above and they spoke to me, I am going to have my daughter download some on my i-pod

Any suggestions to what I would like best, I am from the James Taylor, Steeley Dan, Bruce Springsteen, Grateful Dead, Eric Clapton school of music and I am stuck back there! Help I need a music makeover
