I believe a lot of people have an ipod & am looking for some help trying to decide if it is worth getting one.
I have an IPAD that I love, but it is the first model so I don't have the camera. I am think i would like to have the ipod to have the option of doing video calling while on vacation to the grandkids.

Thanks

We are an "i" household. The latest version of the iPod Touch is a really great tool. My husband - who still hasn't succumbed to a cellular phone - has the third generation (most current, I think) iPod Touch. You can FaceTime other Apple users (they need to be on the right version of the iOs, and the device needs to be of the latest generation), you can use the Skype App, and now you can also iMessage to iPhones and iPads. All of this assumes that you're in a WiFi area, of course, because it is indeed not a phone. It's a fantastic little device.

re: facetime, I believe you MUST be in an area you can access WIFI, even with an Iphone and 3G, you need WIFI (Im not 100% on this)

I'll confirm that you do need wifi access to do facetime/skype with the touch. Basically the touch is an iphone, minus the cellular phone part. Only way it can retrieve data is Wifi.

My wife has an 2nd generation of the touch, but it doesn't have a camera, So it's not capable of the facetime, but the newest versions would be perfect.
