Dinghy day

soooo....... Dinghy day. We rented from Noah's little arks. We were there at 9am and picked up our mighty vessel. Headed out to sea..... Stopped at honeymoon bay just to see how easy it was to beach the boat.... Very easy. Walked the shore a bit and saw a baby nurse shark cruising the shallows. Cool!
Back out to sea...I was on the bow making sure we didn't hit anything. Know what I had to look out for? Turtles!,, they seemed to be everywhere popping up for air.
On to Maho. Now, we have been there twice this trip to see the tarpon and the last time we thought they were about done.....wrong!! If you are on island, run, do not walk to Maho! Go play with the tarpon! They are amazing! We saw over 50 in a train passing us by several times. There were so many bait fish on the water today, that you really couldn't see anything until the tarpon came along and "parted the sea".
We now decided to head to Waterlemon for lunch....almost there, just need to go around the corner...."why are you turning off the motor while we are in the middle of the ocean honey?". "what you didn't turn it off? It shut off by itself?". Great! We are not in a great spot. As luck would have it, another dinghy is coming up behind us and sees the smoke coming out of our engine and asks if we need help. Yes thank you very, very much. They towed us as close to shore at the Annanberg ruins, as they could and we rowed in. Our cell had no service, so we went up and asked a taxi driver if he could please call in an SOS for us. He did.
An hour later, no problem because we had beer, lunch and a fabulous view, a very large boat comes up to shore. They are there to rescue us. We row the dinghy out to them, climb on board and enjoy the trip back to Cruz Bay. Rescue came complete with a friendly dog, Iggy.
Not exactly the trip we had planned, but the theme song from "Gilligan's Island" will be with us for a couple of days.
