Considering a possibly last min trip last week of Nov, first week Dec. If all comes together. Tell me about water temp and weather. We usually go in April or May, and those temps are perfect. Will the water be alot colder in Nov/Dec? Hubby is particularly sensitive to cold water. Apr/May is probably out of the question this year due to impending grandbabies births. Thanks,:)

We usually go around that time and fine the water temps to be pretty lovely (we've never been during the warmest water months (Aug/Sept?) so can't compare. But I once went in late March or early April (can't remember) and found the water to be occasionally pretty chilly, so I guess that my answer is that I find the water in late Nov & early Dec to be comfortable compared to the early spring.

We almost always visit that time of year and find the water temps to be wonderful (80ish I think). When the breeze kicks up snorkeling can be a little on the cool side unless you keep moving. I would suggest investing in a good rashguard if you or hubby feels that the water might be too cool. We have had trips where the wind was a bit breezy at times but nothing more than a bit of surf on some of the beaches. One trip we had to do more South Shore beaches because of the winds. Last trip we arrived on island just in time to catch the day of a group of rainstorms. Matter of fact our first day the islands cancelled school because of the torential downpour we had that morning.

We usually go end of october, first of november, I think the water is the perfect temp. (80s? temp is subjective of course)
Weather can be beautiful, but it's been mentioned in the forums that November can be very rainy statistically one of the wettest months. Our last trip we had some stormy/squally weather off and on through out the trip, but it wasn't long lasting, and didn't really affect the activities. Great lightning shows at night from the villa.

Also seems like the NS beaches are more subject to groundswell waves in December. We had a couple of days where you couldn't snorkel on the NS due to high surf, so we went to waterlemon, salt pond, lameshur etc.

We've always gone in late October/early November. I don't like cold water temps either, and I've never felt like the water was the least bit chilly. I'm usually jumping in as fast as I can to cool off!

We were there in mid-December last year. The water temp was a bit cooler and the Christmas winds were in. Most of the north shore beaches had extremely large swells all week - red flags at Trunk. It was nice to see the island decorated for the holidays.

We've been 8 times in June/July/August and once in November. I'm not sure I would go back in November. I mean if I had unlimited funds I would, but since we only go once a year, I'd rather it not be in November.

When we were there (November of 2009) the water was really rough. I'm used to calm water and found the waves to be too much for me. The water temperature was also noticeably cooler.

There was a day we spent on the far east end of Cinnamon where there are some large rocks in the shallow water and I got quite a few bumps, bruises, and even cuts from being thrashed about by the waves.

Just my two cents from someone who is used to the warm calm waters of summers on STJ.

We always go around December 5-15 or so and the water and temps are great and the island is SO green and lush. We went also in March last year....no comparison....everything was brown and rather dreary and the water was cold!! I will stick to December!
