Hello all - 6 of us are heading down to STJ in a couple of weeks for an all-too-short 6 day trip, and we're looking for ideas for a day sail/motor trip somewhere around the island. We've done day sails out of Cruz Bay to Jost the past couple of years, and was wondering if anyone might have other ideas. Many thanks.

An interesting new charter that offers snorkeling and some great sightseeing is lovangocharters.com - nice boat and knowledgeable capt.

Virgin Gorda, The Baths

If you have not been there- I would highly suggest it

Thanks for the comments. Bdkane, what is the best way to go to Virgin Gorda? Is there a ferry from Cruz Bay?

Kekoa is a nice day trip

Last trip we took the Kekoa for a day sail over to the BVI. It's a beautiful boat and a great day.

On my blog are some pictures.

I concur on Lovango Charters! We went with Dan and Marcy last summer as they were getting their charter going, and had a blast!!!! Do the Sunday charter and they stop at Vies for Sunday brunch.

I just went on a day sail with Kekoa yesterday.

I can't recommend it enough! The boat is amazing, the captain is terrific and the trip gives you enough time at each stop so that you don't feel like you're being herded from one stop to another. We went to Great Thatch, Sandy Spit and White Bay. It was an awesome time.

Love Kekoa but she is out of the water for yearly maintenance until November - yesterday was her last day :(

Have been on a few day sails/charters, and groovy sunset sails, as well.
They were all pretty awesome,honestly.
Don't forget the option of a "dinghy day", though.
Have been lucky enough to visit STJ quite a few times, and during our most recent trip this past May we decided to try out a dinghy excursion.
It just felt so cool zipping in & out of different beaches on the island-slowly,of course...
We parked "downtown",rented the dinghy from Low Key, and just chilled out on our own on the water.
You're your own Captain, which is pretty neat. And heck, if you have enough friends so's you need 2 dinghy's, bring some walkie-talkies...-how much fun would THAT be!
Bring your own coolers with refreshments, or tool into Caneel, Cinnamon, or Little Maho to grab a bite& beverage on shore.
Also, should you decide to do that, which I believe might be a little cheaper,(if that's a concern) you can use the unspent $ on a sunset sail.
So much fun, any way you go!
Just an idea...
Good luck, and always-
Smiles-
MJ

Wish we could, but my wife did the packing so once again there's no room in the suitcase! Have a great time, though, in seven months with the fam!
