Reception at La Tapa or Ocean Grill?

Hello there,

I'm planning on a wedding reception in St. John for late next year, but I've never been there. I visited the websites of both restaurants and read reviews. But I feel like I haven't seen enough pictures of La Tapa to help me make the decision. Would you mind sharing some of your pictures if you have any? So far, I like the menu at La Tapa, but like the courtyard at the Ocean Grill.

Thank you very much for your help.

I agree that the menu at La Tapa is MUCH better, in my opinion, but I agree that the location at Ocean Grill is better.

It depends on what is more important to you, the guests that you are inviting and the overall feel that you are going for in your wedding.

Can you tell I am a wedding planner? Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions.

Ocean Grille was being renovated when we were there a couple of days ago and it looked really nice. It is supposed to reopen this week. La Tapa's street side location could be noisy.
What about Zozo's, Waterfront Bistro or Asolare?

Thanks! I wrote to ZoZo's and La Plancha Del Mar as well, but I haven't received any response yet. So I assume they are closed during the hurricane season.

I should add that I am a planner in the states, so my advice is free

ZOZO's is always my first choice for weddings, only because the view is awesome for pictures!

Zozo's is closed but La Plancha del Mar is open. We ate there twice last week. Delish!

I would suggest you check out Waterfront Bistro as well.

We had an amazing dinner for 20 at Ocean Grill the night before our wedding in April. The food was exceptional and the service perfect. Call and speak with Patti. She is extremely accommodating and eager to provide you with whatever you may need. The atmosphere is charming and romantic.

Between those two I would choose Ocean grill based on location/ambience alone. We left La Tapa because it is right on the street. I mean tables are literally right at the curb. The atmosphere didn't do it for me. The setting at Ocean Grill is much nicer.

BUT...La Plancha Del mar would be my firts choice. Amazing place.
