A friend of mine who recently visited STJ claims to have "stumbled" upon some nice watering holes but cant recall the names, I was wondering if anyone might be able to decipher his puzzle... not much info, this is the email he sent me:

"down in cruz bay. there is a little clothing shop not far from the ferry doc to st. thomas and thru there in a back alley we found the bar. there was also cool bar restaurant on the hill heading to caneel bay in was in the trees with like 7-8 levels and decks.

sorry but we found it by doing a bar crawl so details are not coming to my wife nor myself. have a good time."

The first bar he called the "Swing Bar" (NOT SWINGER
) for the fact there where swings at the bar, the second- no other info, the only place that comes to mind is Asolare, but having never been there I dont know if they have 7-8 levels of deck?

Any ideas? Thanks!

aren't there swings at Rhumblines? You walk through a convenience store to get to it.

here's a link to photos from Rhumb Lines - must have been where he was. http://www.rhumblinesstjohn.com/pictures.html

I was at Asolare once but wouldn't say there were 7 or 8 decks! Not even when I came out of the place! LOL Not sure what that one is.

I had mentioned Rhumblines (one of my favorite!) to him but he seems to believe it was more bar than restaurant, and had all swings- I will send him that link with the pictures maybe it will jog his memory, for all he knows - he may have been on St Thomas! Thanks

Castaways has a second level and their may be swings up there, but there is no place on STJ with 7 or 8 decks that I can think of.

7 or 8 divided by 2 because they were seeing double more like 3 or 4 :D

thats what Im thinking!

He's been giving me a "I thought you knew STJ" kind of attitude

I think he needs a film crew to follow him around so he can remember where hes been :D

That being said, Im sorry I want there that night!

Maybe he was on St Johns Antigua - ha now that would be funny :) No 7 or 8 decks here and no bar with just swings.

Mongoose junction could be percieved to have multiple deck areas in the "trees" With the Tap room at the top it could seem that way. It is on the way to Caneel Bay. Not quite the way I would describe it though.

Thanks for the info, but it looks as though I may need a trip down to do my own research...

My guess is Mongoose Junction. If you've had a few, and it's hot, exploring can feel like "7-8 levels of decks"..... :D

The first bar sounds like Rumblines with the alley and the swings. The second one in the trees and all the decks has got to be Banana Deck. He probably got the hills and directions confused.
