Stimulating the Economy

I'm wondering how many folks on here, in addition to me, have bought things they likely would not have considered before, due to reading about them on the forum.

I know that among my recent purchases that I've justified as being for our trip this fall are:

Polar Bear Coolers (I bought the big one for bringing some food along that we'll cook at the villa, but I liked it so much that I bought one in all of the other sizes as well).

Rolling/Backpack cooler - to be able to get our sandwiches and drinks to the beaches we may have to hike to.

Tecni-Ice - I had never heard of it before!

Aqua-pac bag for my digital camera - I have a dedicated underwater housing that I use when scuba diving, but it's kind of big and bulky, and gets too hot inside to use for topside shooting.

New mp3 player - maybe this one's a "stretch", but after the threads with the playlists I decided that I needed one with bigger capacity.

Books - "Feet, Fins, & Four Wheel Drive" and "Off the Beaten Track".

I'm sure there will be more...

You?

Off the Beaten Track (love this book!)
Fish flip chart
Glassbottom Days (finished this last night--would recommend)

Night of the Silent Drums
F,F & 4WD
MAKEUP/body crap galore from the Vicki Beauty products thread
Flip-flops (most on sale)

Haven't gotten it yet but am planning on the Street Atlas and a coolie once the coolies are online for purchase.

Feet, Fins and 4WD months ago

Off The Beaten Track, about 5 minutes ago (Amazon seriously makes book buying TOO easy)

2 new suits (does that count?)

three new pairs of flip flops, but I'd probably have done that anyway

Snorkel gear

New Sunglasses 8)

Still trying to find a good underwater casing for my cheaper digital (Kodak EasyShare, about 3 years old)

Oh yes, I have!
-New camera (Olympus 770SW)
-F,F, and 4WD
-Off the Beaten Track
-Adrift on a Sea of Blue Light
-St. John Calendar
-New mask, dry snorkel and fins
-Flip flops

I am currently shopping (or still need to buy):
-Luggage (to make sure I can fit it all into the largest carry-on made)
-Packable, non-leaking cooler (I'll probably end up with a polar bear one, too)
-Anti-glare cover for my lcd screen

I'm sure there is more to come! Great topic, Augie!!

I thought of more stuff I have bought because of this forum:

St. John calendar
National Geographic map of St. John
St. John Beach guide
St. John: Living Art
Desiring Paradise
Laminated fish id card
Otter Box
Songs from itunes after reading the "what's on your playlist" thread
That stupid coco real that I purchased just to show you people and now am stuck with!
8 Shari Erikson prints from islandstudio.com, thanks to the "island art" thread.

Just doing my part to keep the economy moving!

You are helping me with more, Liamsaunt. I also bought that CocoReal and songs from itunes after studying the playlists.
Also, all of the ingredients needed for Painkillers, Bushwackers, Pia's skeeters and other libations!

Yes, a real buzzkill Jerseyboy!!

Shopping, planning the vacation, counting down vacation, talking about vacation....Makes me very relaxed and a better employee overall!

And I just bought some maps of STT and STJ today. Let's see, last week was a new belly ring per a message thread. Week prior to that was a see thru raft for my kids. Week prior to that was...

Well my VISA truly does stimulate the economy

Jerseyboy - if the IT department decided to audit my internet usage at work, I might be in trouble. Maybe I shouldn't be using my real name.....

I actually get to see our company's monthly report on Web activity. After looking at my own data, I freaked out a little bit and cut down on my visits to the forum at work. But recently, I said "screw it" and still come here often during the day as you can see. Just be aware that Big Brother is watching you.

Liamsaunt - Sorry to interrupt your shopping. :)

You and me both. Yikes! I'm still getting a ton of work done, though, so I justify it that way. Also, we have smokers here and I don't smoke so the forum break is like my smoke break. That's my defense plan, anyway.
