Anyone seen these lovely stands? We were there when they pushed them into place. One guard even sawed a sea grape tree to get it out of the way. Maybe they will blend in better when they paint them !

Looks like something from NASA and looks like it has AC too! The lifeguards may like it but I think it looks goofy & way out of place! :?

We were there the day they pushed this one in place. There was a second one in the parking lot that day. I don't know if the materials it is made from are paintable of if they are pre-finished. Yes, the are different. I did, however, find them to be an excellent landmark to orient me to where I was.

Sorry we missed you that Thursday. :(

There can be some very big North swells and groundsea on this beach - I hope it is a lot lighter and easier to move than it looks in this picture.
However it is well beyond my understanding level to even wonder why this design was even needed and who decided to bring it to STJ.

They had a good size piece of equipment and were able to move it with a couple of ropes. I resisted the reflex to take pictures. I was on vacation.

They had the same kind of stands on some of the northshore beaches in Kauai last year. They must be fairly easy to move because my understanding is those beaches aren't even swimmable in the winter. Definitely not pretty to look at and pretty large!

Thats about the most hideous looking thing I think Ive ever saw on a beach...esp a STJ beach...what were they thinking...???? Of course they could always camouflauge it ..  At least paint it a different color and plant trees around it to hide it some...That just looks terrible...maybe it looks better to see it in person ??....Im sorry...thats just bad....really bad !!!

It's a national park, not some swim with dolphins operation. NPS should be ashamed.

Yuck

We have these all up and down Huntington Beach California. Sad to see them on St John
