Frozen drinks to the beach question...

I seem to remember that some of you make a batch of drinks at night, put it into the freezer, and then the next day take it to the beach in your cooler and have frosty/slushy drinks. I hope my memory is correct. LOL

Anyway, my question is: What drink recipes are working best for this?

Thnx!!

We haven't tried this on St. John, but at home we've made frozen margaritas using frozen lime juice concentrate, ice and tequila. Very refreshing on a hot beach. I hope others respond I wonder how bananas would hold up if prepared ahead of time? Most of our recipes on island include banana, pineapple, coconut concentrate and various juices.....and some form of alcohol of course. I guess that's what would keep it slushy.

I went to Lowe's Hardware & bought a "lighter-converter adaptor" for our rented Jeep during our vaca this past Spring.
Took a few minutes, but we enjoyed frozen pineapple-strawberry daquiri's on both Maho & Francis.
(Aahhh...fresh frozen drinks on the beach of our choice...-Splendid!)
The "clean-up" wasn't a bother, either.
Such fun...! Totally groovy experiences.
Good luck-

How cool Lowes here I come! :D Greyhoundmom said she tried dtrinks on the beach (not frozen ones) last trip and it was really fun. I have never done alcahol on the beach because we go so early, but I think it will have to be a first next year!

Last visit to St. John I made a batch of BUSHWACKERS up and froze them - then took them to Maho the next day. They were great and went fast. For the upcoming trip (Oct - Nov) I'll probably make a couple batches. We've also made "VD" (Vodka Delight) which is basically any type/flavor of vodka (could easily be done using RUM too!) and then added whatever juices, etc. we had on hand. I usually have several of the Crystal Lite singles packets along on the trip. Seems like each "DELIGHT" batch tastes different, but good! :D

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess it was the bushwacker type drinks I was thinking about. I have visions of rum milkshakes at the beach.

Make sure it's a good one- the adaptor-, and enjoy!
We brought down a small blender, but I think next trip we'll just use the one supplied by the home we're staying in down there...
We had to start the Jeep a time, or two,so's not to worry about the battery, but it was a very groovy experience making freshly blended drinks on the beach.
I'd personally stay away from milky/dairy type frozen drinks, but that might just be me...seems a little too heavy.
Can't say I've pre-frozen drinks for the beach the night before, so can't comment on that, either. Sounds like a good idea, though...
I'm going to stick to rudimentary frozen drinks with fresh fruit, flavored rums, and LOADS of ice, so's we can get our kicks, while trying to convince ourselves that the icey drinks are actually re-hydrating us all!
All the same,-
Have a blast for us back here at home, wishing we were there!-
And always,
