Day 7: The six of us headed to Donkey Diner for breakfast. Today is the day our eldest son and his wife are arriving. Our plan is breakfast, a trip to Kiddle Bay, a stop at the tourist trap and then off to Cruz Bay to meet them at the ferry dock. A friend at Donkey Diner:

After breakfast, Zach still not feeling great, drove him and Alicia back out to the east end and the four of us headed to Kiddle Bay. We stayed here during our first trip at a villa called Lille Paradis. Love this secluded and very little used bay. It has great snorkeling. Didn’t swim there today but had fun on the tire swing and enjoying the view.

The tourist trap was next. Food was great, drinks delicious and the company of Larry priceless. Played with the rockem sockem robots and loved the bobble head buddy Christ.

Off to Cruz Bay, hung at the beach bar and met up with Jim and Tara at the ferry dock. Back to the cottages and another great dinner at Skinny legs. Zach feeling better and we had a great time.
Jim and Tara:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5901201970/" title="IMG_2538 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6015/590 ... eb05fd.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2538"></a>
Day 8: At 8am Jim was picked up right in front of our cottage by a fly fishing guide and spent the entire day out learning to fly fish in the Caribbean.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5921921364/" title="IMG_2495 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6135/592 ... 88cb5a.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2495"></a>
During the day he managed to hook himself in the shoulder. (Blip #5) He pulled the hook out without too much damage. Back at the cottages the rest of us snorkeled, kayaked and relaxed. While swimming with Tara, there was a large swell in the water from a passing boat and when she settled she accidentally lightly touched her foot on top of a black sea urchin and had 14 tiny black pieces in her foot. (blip #6) Thank God for google, it said to soak the foot in white vinegar to dissolve them so we got a basin, put in the vinegar, placed her on a raft and floated with her while her foot soaked. She said it felt like a bunch of bee stings but she was a brave young lass!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900636055/" title="IMG_2513 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5111/590 ... 80b462.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2513"></a>
After returning to the beach, I was seated in a resin porch chair and happily enjoying a cocktail I had just made when the back legs of my chair began to slowly sink into the sand….you guessed it, blip#7.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900615161/" title="IMG_2089 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6046/590 ... dca1c9.jpg" width="374" height="500" alt="IMG_2089"></a>
Mostly fun and laughter ensued but two large bruises on my calves the next morning. (By the way, didn’t spill my drink!) Finished that day with Dinner at Shipwreck. After returning to the cottages my husband became dizzy and sunk to the floor assisted by Zach who called out to me in fear. We all ran in to the cottage. I am a nurse practitioner and was able to determine that his heart rate was fine, (no one else's was!) but he admitted to drinking very little water during the long hot day. A couple large glasses of water, a long sit on the couch and all was well but…very scary blip #8….notice a theme developing?
Day 9: We had scheduled a day of sailing on Treazzure, a beautiful large sailboat we had been on before planning to renew our vows at sea. As it turns out, Treazzure had a fire in the engine compartment and our records were lost so Captain Joe was unable to contact us prior to our arrival. Blip #9 When we called him to confirm he apologized and stated he had a terrible fire and could not take us out as the boat was under repair. However…he had arranged for us to go on Scubadu a large catamaran instead. Cool photo effect of Scubadu:
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900622801/" title="255 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6043/590 ... 394000.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="255"></a>
The only disappointment is that Scubadu does not go to Jost and we all wanted to go to the Soggy Dollar. But a day at sea is fantastic anyway so off we went. The captain was also named captain Joe and his first mate was Charmay. We had a great morning for sailing and were able to put up the sails. It was fantastic! Sat out on the front of the catamaran and enjoyed the beautiful view.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900643497/" title="IMG_2550 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6032/590 ... cfa0de.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2550"></a>
Arrived at Whistling Key, lowered the sails and stayed there for the informal renewal ceremony led by our eldest son Jim. Julie and Zach also spoke from their hearts and it was a wonderful event.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5901262342/" title="252 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5156/590 ... 68b49b.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="252"></a>
Afterwards we all jumped off and went for a long snorkel.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5921350525/" title="IMG_2707 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6006/592 ... 95c348.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2707"></a>
When we got back on the boat there was a table set with plates of fish tacos with pineapple and mango and a huge selection of hot sauces. Yummmm-meee!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900645843/" title="IMG_2620 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5151/590 ... 92d671.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2620"></a>
Motored over to Congo for another snorkel and then returned to Cruz Bay.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5901263666/" title="IMG_2717 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5031/590 ... 5b3c28.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_2717"></a>
Kids called this the best day of the trip. Unfortunately, Julie twisted her ankle getting off the boat and we had Blip #10.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/64807361@N03/5900615987/" title="IMG_2160 by Jen Cas, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6004/590 ... b93219.jpg" width="374" height="500" alt="IMG_2160"></a>
Hobbled over to Woody’s to sit with Julie while the guys went up to the pharmacy to buy ace wraps. The staff at Woody's gave us plenty of ice and we met a lot of kind people who wanted to help. Gotta love the Island! Hobbled some more up to Fatty Crab for dinner. Great atmosphere, super limited menu and very high prices. Not sure I would return even thought the food was delicious. Back to the cottage to continue icing the ankle and found a delicious chocolate torte with a card from our friend in the refrigerator wishing us a happy 25th anniversary. Such a wonderful and delicious surprise!
