A Small Black Pitt Bull Puppy Named Allah

OK, I just emailed STJ Animal Shelter. Thought I'd put it out there for anyone who is on island now. First, let me say that we are dog people. We fostered retired racing greys for eight years. They were our life. Met carriers on interstates to pick up racers that weren't winning races (young dogs), picked them up. We had fosters for six months before we placed them. We had our own grey for 14 years before we had to put her down. I have a huge heart for dogs.
In Cruz Bay the week of 6/15-6/22 we met a young, charismatic man who had a black pit bull puppy named Allah. Very apparent that his puppy was a magnet for the young ladies. Our 18 year old grads struck up a conversation with him, loved the puppy, and said he looks so hot, do you have any water for him? He said, he is fine. That night when we picked up our car at Slim Man's, the puppy was tied up on the ground next door to the right of Slim's. It was so hot and he was barking, the young man comes out and screams at him to "shut up". We saw the young man, dog and STJ volunteer/employee talking to him and she said, he looks great. As she was walking way, Allah looked at her with longing as if to say, please take me with you. This puppy is not "great". This young man that is either fostering him or adopted him does not treat him well. I don't know the name of the business next to Slim Man's but it broke my heart to see this puppy tied up on the concrete in the hot sun with no water. If you are there and see him, please call the shelter. This pup is not getting a good break and does not need to be with yhis young man.
