Capn Dan and Ruby's StJ/Lovango TR- first full day
Posted: Sun Jun 26, 2011 6:11 pm
Ahh, the first real day of paradise! We got up fairly early, and had coffee on the deck and got ready to fix breakfast…Darn, no cooking spray or oil…I guess we will have to go somewhere.
I checked out all the menus of places that served breakfast and Deli Grotto looked like it had what we wanted. It was great! We split the egg scramble (It was huge!). (Sorry no food porn…forgot the camera) The muffins had just come out of the oven, and they were hot!!! We split a Blueberry muffin, and I think it was the best I have ever eaten (sorry Mom)!
Next stop Salt Pond Bay... We love Drunk Bay, so we decided to go over there early while it was still cool.

Salt Pond on the way back

We were surprised to see relatively few sculptures. It must have been the earth quake or a storm, but only a few creations were intact. My favorites were a wedding couple, and a giant figure with a piece of coral shaped just like “man parts”
(Left that picture out
).
When we got back to Salt Pond Bay we snorkeled way out past the last buoy to the rocks that stick out of the water. It was so beautiful! I have wanted to go out that far ever since I saw those rocks five years ago. We then snorkeled back on the right side. The reefs there were very pretty!!! (On our way back we saw a lobster hiding in between two rocks. It was pretty cool. (Under water pictures are delayed because I have to have them developed)
With the snorkeling done it was time to get in some hard relaxing on the beach…zzzzz. Nothing beats a beach chair in the shade with a warm breeze!
(Wow, I just realized that I took no pictures of salt pond bay
)
Upon waking, I felt a rumbling in my tummy, it was Tourist Trap time!!!!
I have wanted to go there for the last two trips, but we plan poorly, and it is always a Sunday or Monday.
But it is Tuesday this time! Yeaaaa!
As we were collecting our stuff Capn Dan said “look at those fools out there standing on the rocks!” Sure enough an entire family of “lobster backs” was standing on the beautiful reef that we had just snorkeled!!!
I felt so helpless! I wanted to yell at them, but they were way too far out. I just hope that they learn better manners before they stay here too long!
We started the hot walk up the hill to the car, loaded the beach gear in the car, and were off to lunch.
Once at the Tourist Trap, Capn Dan and I decide to split a lobster roll and a Tenn. Taco. Capn Dan is not into tropical blender drinks, but I had to have a Drink Right Drive Left. (Capn Dan just had the tea, but it was good too) Man –o-man good, good, good!

Oddly enough, my favorite lunch item was the Tenn. Taco.
To cap it all off was homemade Passion ice cream! That was a cup of dreamy creamy heaven!!!

We got back to the CV1; we rinsed the snorkel gear, and hit the pool. Nice pool… nicer lounger in the shade… I think another little nap is in order! Upon waking, I showered and we decided to go down to Cruz Bay for some grill rub, shopping, and a stop in at High Tide for a Lime & Coconut and Conch fritters.

We also picked up a few items at Starfish and headed back to the CV1 to fix supper.
Dinner was spaghetti, a salad with Josephine’s greens, and bread with olive oil dip (with herbs from St. John Spice).

(Y’all, this is a great way to have a cheap meal… I bought one of those cheep dehydrators from Bed Bath & Beyond, and then Capn Dan prepared some of his famous spaghetti sauce. We dehydrated it and vacuum sealed it. I packed enough for two meals and it took up less space in my bag than my quart bag of liquids. When you want to eat it, just cover it in water (I like to also add a little wine, and fresh garlic to the mix) Let it sit in your fridge during the day while you are at the beach, then come home, and heat it up (if you need to add more liquid at that time, you can). This takes very little effort, even less money, and it is really good. )
After dinner, we had a couple of Cruzans on the deck and off to bed. Ahhhhh!!!
