Are you considering a Polar Bear cooler?

I bought one last summer on the advice of many people here. I got the big one, normally $100, but available that day for 50% off.

Does it work well, you ask?

Yesterday, the fridge died (Awesome). I loaded the fridge's contents into it (what would fit anyway) and had my wife buy some dry ice.

Ever seen frozen hummus?

I know dry ice is VERY cold, but it lowered and held the interior temperature of the cooler to a chilly 14 degrees (I had a temp sensor in there to keep track). The cooler lowered and held the temperatures in it a little too well.

New fridge is being delivered in the next 2 hours...

I have the 24-can size and I LOVE it! I thought it was a little expensive (I didn't have any coupons and they weren't running any specials), but I really feel like I got my money's worth! No regrets whatsoever!

We tried the Polar Bear (24 can size) on our way down to STJ this time. My husband tried to get dry ice right before we left Tuesday morning, but they only had a few small chunks left so we packed them in. We went to St Louis, stayed overnight at a hotel and left early the next morning. When we got to Acqua Blu that evening about 7PM everything was still frozen solid.
We brought down frozen meat for 8 adults for one week, so we are taking turns cooking in this amazing villa.

We are having a great time!

I love Polar Bears so much I have one in every size. (I am waffling on the back pack, do I really need another?)

We regularly use our 48 can when our fridge or freezer overflows during parties or holidays. It will sit on the porch for days and keep beer/wine nicely chilled. For our 2008 STJ tri, it successfully keep meat frozen solid from 9-10am on a Friday until past 4pm on a Saturday.

I bought the backpack cooler and the backpack liner for our upcoming trip. I think it is going to be very helpful. I'll report back on whether it is comfortable to tote.

Looking forward to it. I am thinking it might make a decent carry-on too, I could put my laptop in there and it would be padded and I could carry it on my back through the airport.

I think I am gonna get some of these for hurricane season so we don't lose the contents of our refridgerators when the power goes out!

I can attest that Margo's worked AWESOME cuz her enchiladas were ROCK solid when we got there.
