Minors on the island

Hello to all. I have a silly question. I will be there with my 15 year old son soon and I just started thinking about him being in some of these establishments being a minor.

We plan breakfast in the villa, lunch on the beach but we want to do dinners out. Like the Beach Bar and those types of establishments. Are we going to get shooed away or get the "shame on your for having your kid in a bar" type look? We just want to eat ya know? I also want to take him into many of the places just to see what they look like. Thanks all.

Being from the rather Puritanical Boston area, I had the same concerns. At Lime Inn, Rich told us we were welcome to eat at the bar rather than wait for a table. We asked him if he was sure as we had out then 13 year olds with us. His response "My kids were practically raised at that bar- no problem." Gotta love it.

Whew! We plan on being in early anyway but it seems like almost all the eating places in town are a bar type setting. I will be lucky I have a beer during dinner with him as I have to drive back to our accomodations. Not taking any chances ya know. Especially since I might appear a little drunk anyway driving on the left day or night! I guess thats one way to be be assured you are the designated driver-take your kids right?

My 13 year old has been ordering his own mocktails on STJ since he was 4! His faves are the virgin BBC & Lime in the Coconut LOL! Nobody will frown on the little ones. Everyone is welcome!

We took our four kids to the Beach Bar for dinner/appetizers. We found that sitting at a table on the beach was better than at the bar.

No worries.

OP - you obviously have your answer but I can say that we took our 9 month old son to the Beach Bar regularly during our trip last fall. Other kids were there too - either at the bar or at tables. For the most part, it's a family-friendly environment. Even if it wasn't, people in the VI are waaaay less judge-y than people stateside.

Most places have a bar, but definitely aren't bar type settings. The Beach Bar is definitely a bar setting, but the vast majority of places are restaurants that also have bars.
