Security question

Hi all!
Finalizing the carry on items and wondering if snacks and small unopened bottled waters are allowed thru the security checkpoints or if we have to buy them AFTER we get thru security. Wanted to pack some pop tarts and small waters if I can, but if they are just going to be taken, I don't want to waste my time or food.

Security will confiscate your bottled water. Buy it after going through security. :)

What about a homemade ham sandwich, does that make it through security? And homemade muffins? Or does it have to be packaged by a food company?

Food - packaged or homemade is okay- it's the liquids that are the issue.

And as I found out last time I flew, yogurt is apparently an issue. You all remember the crazy Yogurt-Bomber don't you?!?!?

If you want to save money on water, carry empty water bottles and fill them after you get through TSA.

I happened to have 3 at home so I stuck them in my carry on and no one batted an eye. Then to salvage some of the rum we would have to leave behind in the villa, I filled those empties and again, no poblems! I thought there might be since they weren't sealed but I was good to go! But we didn't even touch them on the trip home...ha ha. Needed to de-tox!

Hubby ordered Bloody Mary mix on the way there and poured a skyy vodka mini and voila! I ordered a coke zero around lunch time and added my parrot bay mini 8)

All your liquids for carrying on must fit into a quart sized plastic bag, and each individual liquid can't be more than 3.4 oz.

Here's the info from the TSA:
