I have been reading Feet, Fins and Four Wheeler and I was wondering how long the hike is to Leinster and Francis? How is it compared to the walk at Salt Pond? Any input is helpful. Thanks everyone!!

Francis is not much of a walk at all. There are about 6 parking spots that are adjacent to the beach. Otherwise it is a short walk on a raised wooden boardwalk to the far end of the beach.

Leinster is about 1/2 mile, but pretty flat, and shaded most of the way. When we were down in February, John and I noticed that the old shoreside path had been regraded somehow--there is less walking over rocks, and parts of the path seemed to be at a higher level than we remembered from previous visits. Whatever changes were made resulted in a much easier walk out to the bay (not that it was hard to beginwith).

Of the three I dislike the Salt Pond walk of woe the most since it is exposed to the sun and a somewhat steep uphill walk.

I like the snorkeling at Salt Pond quite a bit, but every time is different. we have seen several turtles, rays, and a whole array of fish there. We also enjoy going to Blue Cobblestone and snorkeling there.( you go past Salt Pond as if you were going to Ram Head.)
