But Where Do You Keep The Key?

Hi guys! I bought one of those nifty mesh devices for holding valuables at the beach after reading several posts. It is the type that has a heavy gauge wire and key lock. Now the question is.....where do I keep the darn key when I'm out snorkeling?? I have been to several dive shops looking for something to put around my wrist but have yet to find anything. Any suggestions? (This is our 10th trip to St. John and this time "Dry Dock" (my son-in-law) who never goes in the water won't be coming along......so there's no one to watch our stuff.)

As a guy, I just run the tie string for my bathing suit through the key and then tie up my suit as normal. I guess a woman could run the string on her suit top through the key. If all else fails, a shoelace tied around your waist or wrist or neck would do the trick. Or maybe a big safety pin pinned to your suit?

There are a number of different brands of waterproof cases with a wrist strap on them that you can use for keys, credit cards, etc. I got mine at the dive shop where I got my snorkel gear.

If the key has a hole in it, even if it's a small hole, you can take a rubber band and push a small portion of it through the hole creating a tiny loop.
Then take the rest of the rubber band and run it through that little loop creating a knot around the key.
Then put the rubber band on your wrist.

How about attaching it to your bathing suit with a safety pin and tucking it inside?

Check out Otter Box products. The smallest Otter Box will hold keys and a few other items. The product is a dry box and it works really well.

Too bad I won't be there I am the unofficial watcher of items that aren't mine. I guess I look like someone people can trust because it never fails that people ask me to watch their stuff. I don't mind of course I think it's because I look so comfortable in my beach chair that they know I'm not going to move my arse.

EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) sells different size pouch type products that keep keys, etc dry and attach to your wrist or around your neck. They are in their kayak stuff....

We have one of those. It's a tiny dry bag with a lanyard to keep it around your neck. Then you stuff it in your rashgard.
