What beaches do the open air taxis go to?
What beaches do the regular taxis go to?

Are you asking about St John ? if so, all of our taxi's here are the open air multi passenger trucks and they will go to the north shore beaches but Cinnamon is the furthest beach that they are readily available to return. Maho/Francis/Annaberg etc you will need to arrange a return time.

Thnx Pia - yes, I was inquiring about STJ. Still trying to decide if we want to rent a car for 1 or 2 weeks. We are going to sit down this evening, with our map spread out and, with the info you gave, make our decision.
Oh, edited to ask...for the
Return do we ask the open air taxi driver who brought us to pick us back up, or do we have to prearrange that with someone else?

We just returned from a week and found that the price to use the taxi to/from North Shore beaches ($5 per person one way, minimum) was a great motivating factor to rent a vehicle!
To get a taxi back, you simply need to stand beside the road and flag down one of the many open air taxis driving the route non-stop most of the day.
We rented a jeep the last 3 days of our trip. Loved it! Will definately rent one for the full stay next time.
Also, the walking anywhere away from town was quite an experience. We were straight up hill from the round about, with no side walk to speak of! Yikes..lol.

Thnx PaminMaine - we can to our senses

: and we decided to rent a vehicle for both weeks. We looked at the map, marking all of the beaches, looked at taxi fare, and the ultimate hassle of hauling a cooler around, and being on the taxis schedule and not ours, and decided we'd go with the car.
Thanks so much for the info!!
