Anyone stay - or know someone who's stayed at this little villa overlooking Hart Bay?
Originally we wanted a pool - but we realized we never used it last time- and going in high season really jacks up the price a lot for 3 people - yikes!

lisa,
bride & i stayed there a week in dec 04 and for 3 days a couple of yrs later when we weren't ready to go home after having to leave c9 (our stj favorite). moonsong has small living area but worked for 2 of us since bride got downstairs bedroom for her late reading and sleeping. we have stayed in a c9 villa 7 of our 13 trips (though been 3 yrs) and always found their villas clean, well equipped & stocked and very comfortable though not luxury but offers good value.
loved evening views of stt lights and sounds and views from hart bay. she's private and a very convenient location. 2 potential draw backs though are now overlooking pond bay development and i believe ac for upstairs bedroom comes from high wall mounted cooling coil over great room front door. we didn't use upper level ac for our dec and jan stays, but rather left her open for sounds and convenience. also only dining table is on deck with those great stt views.

I haven't stayed at Moonsong, but stayed right next door at Sundance, so same view, same driveway, same villa company.
In Sundance, the upstairs bedroom had the same type of a/c that papabou mentioned with the main unit in the living room. It kept our room plenty cold!
The view is definitely not my favorite on St. John, but, for the price and location, it was well worth it and we mainly were on the deck in the late evening when all you are doing is enjoying the breeze and the island sounds. We had plenty of view during the day! It was a very relaxing trip for us because the drive to and from the villa and parking there was soooo easy. Cloud 9 does have very clean, basic villas, nothing fancy, but I don't hesitate to recommend!

Thanks Nic & Papabou - after looking into I think every villa on the island (yes, I am exaggerating a bit - but not too much), we are going to go for Moonsong! It fits our budget (not easy to do for 3 in high season for 9 nights) and it seems light and airy - and conveniently located. I also liked talking directly with Linda, the owner- she was very nice & informative.
Now I have to get me a countdown banner!!!!!!!!!

lisa,
we have stayed at sundance twice and moonsong actually has better views (imho) of hart bay than sundance. my point on ac in great room cooling bedroom is one of bedroom privacy if that is an issue. frankly those split systems (that are also in c9 and sundance and most other villas we have enjoyed) are supper quiet.
i believe you'll find moonsong offers a lot of convenience, wonderful sounds of surf from hart bay when villa is open (which it was during our stays), and good value.
enjoy,
papabou
