Mr. Fins has the pleasure of celebrating his birthday while on island and this year we planned our boat day for this very special occasion!! I booked our day with Palm Tree Charters MONTHS in advance as last year we missed out because the only day we could go was already booked. I did not want to miss another year with Capt John after all of the rave reviews I have read. He did not disappoint, he was awesome!! So, the day started out like all others, breakfast at the villa and pack up and get ready to go!! Mr. Fins and the little Fins made sure I did not make the same mistake I made last year and that was leaving the passports at the villa!! Yes, that's right, we were all boarded on the boat and Josh from Lion in da Sun asked for our passports and oops..they were right where I left them when we arrived 4 days prior!!! Needless to say, Mr. Fins was not very thrilled with me and almost threw in the towel to visit the BVI's. Josh was wonderful, convinced us to go back and helped Mr. Fins find another parking space. So there was no way they were going to let that happen again!! We left extra early as we wanted to score a parking space in the little lot next to the docks if possible. Well, just as we were pulling in, someone was leaving and SCORE, we got us a spot!! This was going to be an awesome day, I could tell already :D

Here we are waiting for Capt John's arrival...

Here's the Birthday Guy with his boys!!!

And the Fins with their Momma...

Yes, the construction vehicles came with us per a special request by Capt John. He told the boys Sunday night at the BB to make sure they brought their trucks, there would be plenty of beach to work on!! They were thrilled!!

And here's the guy we have been waiting for, The Capt of the Year--or at least the day!!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715373625/" title="St John 2011 097 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3426/571 ... b1ef5c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 097"></a>

Captain John was absolutely wonderful to the boys. He kept them entertained and engaged and even gave them their first boating lesson!! They were also Captain of the Day!!!!

After checking into customs in Tortola, we were off to do some snorkelling at the Indians.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715957218/" title="St John 2011 130 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362/571 ... a3d1ed.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 130"></a>

Notice the float that Fins 2 is using..these are great. For those of you with little ones or for those who don't like to put their face in the water , this is the thing for you. The window magnifies so you can actually see under the water. I found this at Isnorkel. com if anyone is interested.
Next stop, the Willy T for lunch and a birthday jump! But first, we needed another Kodak Moment for Flat Stanley....
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715963314/" title="St John 2011 144 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3577/571 ... ac3dc0.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 144"></a>

Notice the clothing display just above the Fins heads? Ya, I didn't think the First Grade teacher would be very impressed with me so we did a retake:

Here's the Birthday Lunch, Ribs and a Painkiller, Yum!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715403701/" title="St John 2011 152 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362/571 ... 2f8e2b.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 152"></a>
And Capt John's Lunch...
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715970198/" title="St John 2011 154 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3299/571 ... 9f4c0a.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 154"></a>
And now for the highlight of the trip for Fins 1, The Jump
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715406925/" title="St John 2011 155 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3127/571 ... 765fd5.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 155"></a>
With Mr. Fins proudly looking on and notice the liquid sunshine!! That did not stop us a bit, if anything made the water feel like bath water!!
After a stop at Sandy Spit we were off to our attraction of the day..The Soggy Dollar...
Happy Birthday Mr. Fins....Salute!!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715409729/" title="St John 2011 174 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2704/571 ... 2a7665.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 174"></a>
Sunshine or not, it really doesn't get any better than this.. I wish we could spend every birthday doing exactly this..chillaxin' on White Bay!!
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715411029/" title="St John 2011 180 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3541/571 ... cc1a05.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 180"></a>
And now it is time to call it an incredible day and head back to St. John. Now remembeer I mentioned that I am usually behind the lens and Mr. Fins steps up every now and again to take a photo..well here it is.. I call this one "A mother's Love"
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/57361246@N02/5715412025/" title="St John 2011 186 by delia185, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2272/571 ... f179ea.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="St John 2011 186"></a>

After saying our Good Byes to Captain John it's time to honor another tradition of ours. Since the first visit to St. John we have purchased a Birthday Cake from Starfish Market-the Lemon one. The first year we did not venture too far as the Fins were little and Mr. Fins Birthday was the day after we arrived. I tried to change it the second year and I unanimously got over ruled..the Fins wanted Daddy to have the yellow birthday cake- so yellow it is!! I can't imagine it being any other cake now. Traditions are traditions for a reason!!

Fins- that flat stanley pic was so funny! As soon as I saw it (I have a 1st grader, too), I thought, "no way is that gonna fly at school", then I saw your second pic. Smart girl!! Not sure I would have caught that until too late

Sounds like a wonderful day! What a wonderful birthday for your husband. I'm glad to hear they sell birthday cake at Starfiah. My daughter will be celebrating her 13th birthday while we are on STJ, and I would rather buy her a cake than make one at the villa.
