I have read a couple of recent unfavorable reviews of asolare, one being that porton are extremely small for the price you pay. Has this been your experience? We have reservations there for our official birthday dinner and want to make sure we have picked a good place. The views and ambience look amazing and I really want to try one of their martinis If the food quality and service is great then I am ok with it..we can just have some extra crackers na dcheese at the villa before we go!

We had family down about a month ago and went to Asolare for dinner one evening. I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. One of my family members is very well traveled and is obsessed with fine dining. She rated Asolare as tied with her favorite restaurant in Seattle.
From my experience I can give nothing but raves for Asolare. If you can request Holly as your server, even better. She is a delight.

Easter Dinner was excellent! The profiteroles for dessert excellent!

Portion sizes are not small at Asolare. It's not in my top favorites list, but the food is usually very good. I especially like their tuna dishes. Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of what to expect. Appetizer portion of fried calamari:

Make your reservation for when they open (5:30) to ensure a rail table. The view is lovely. I recommend the grapefruit-rosemary martini if you want to try something a little different.

Our other reservations are at Rhumblines and La Plancha then we are going to wing the other nights.

We went when on island for the jazz fest and it was really good. I had a lemongrass martini (think that was the name). Becky the bartender made it, so good.
The portions to me are not small at all.
It is not my fav but the view at sunset rivals the view at Zozo's.
