Who has eaten at Sogs? Waja think?

We love Sogos and have eaten there several times. The lady there is from Dominica and cooks genuine West Indian cuisine. The meals come with several side dishes - vegetables and some starchy items - yummy and plenty of food. My favorite is the shrimp dish cooked with tomatoes, peppers and onions - can't remember the name, maybe Shrimp Creole. My hubby's fav is Curried Goat. I've also had the Curried Chicken, which was very good. We've had fresh fruit juices there too. The "atmosphere" at the restaurant reminds me of local places on other islands we've visited - very casual. We usually order ahead and take it back to the villa to enjoy the views. We ate there once and enjoyed talking to the lady about Dominica since we had visited there. If you like West Indian food, be sure to give it a try.

Always a must stop for us. Local food; nice lady; drinks are very reasonable. Our vegetarian friends liked it and I love the veggie side dishes too.

I am always surprised that more people don't frequent Sogo's. I gather it's more the unfamiliarity of eating West Indian food and that the restaurant does not appear 'touristy'. People like what they know. Take a chance here and be adventurous.

Alfred and Vel are perfect hosts. The restaurant is never crowded, the food is great,plentiful and inexpensive. Alfred cooked at Caneel and, I believe, ran Ms Lucy's long ago.

Perfect timing! I was looking for a place to get curried goat!

We love Sogo's! And for those without adventurous palates, there burgers are BIG and delicious. Blaine won't eat anything "wierd," and he was very happy to find a place that suited us both.
As others said, the folks there are super nice, too!

We ate there on our first trip..We rented from Conrads and was starving by the time we got there and got the jeep, and it was just next door..But Im like Minde said about Blaine...Im not eating anything weird...( I dont even eat chicken ). I can say the burgers are good, we love to go there...

Thank you all! We want to go there and wanted to know the scoop. The goat sounds great! What about the corn meal and okra stuff? Now that sounds weird . I generally like okra, but loose cornmeal ...

We like sogo's too-and they actually have a parking space in front.! It's good, local cuisine, a lot of taxi drivers stop their for food to take out. Try her ginger tea (iced)-it's really good.

The cornmeal side dish isn't as weird as it may sound. I have a 'thing' about odd textures in food, but I liked this. It was yummy - give it a try.
