Each time I have seen this boat in the Coral Bay harbor I have wanted to know more; thanks to Ella Anderson, I do now.

"Built at the turn of the century in Ontario, Canada, Silver Cloud has a rich history. She was originally a pilot boat, a working boat meant to transfer captains to shore during storms. During WW1 and WWII she was pulled into service as a fire boat. But soon after, she fell into disrepair, and in the 1950’s she actually sank to the bottom of the sea."

The rain was still coming down, the clouds were scraping Bourdeau, and the wind was howling. Cabin fever had set in so we rolled down the hill to Skinny's for a burger and Dark 'n Stormys. Crab Dip was flooded so it was questionable getting back up the hill. The captain was sitting next to us. We asked about the boat, and if he had it secured.

"Omah? yup, it's gonna blow. See that boat out theah? I gut ny-un anchahs in ah."

Skinny's closed at 2pm. That night we rode out the storm and prayed the anchahs would hold.

Elliot often takes "company" parties out for the day for the likes of Island Blues, etc.Silver Cloud is a most impressive ship. Elliot himself is a Coral Bay treasure.
