Question for those who travel on AA from JFK

The last time we traveled on American Airlines from JFK to STT we got dropped off by the car service at the wrong terminal. This time we will have 2 toddlers and 2 car seats in tow and walking the distance between the terminals will be unrealistic.
Please help me remember: Do we fly out of the international terminal or the domestic terminal?
Also, if the flight departs around 9:30 am, how early do you arrive?
Thanks in advance.

if you are on the nonstop (usually 655) it's ascheduled for four hours --you'll get in about 1:20--probably earlier

Terminal 8- thanks so much!
Yes, we'll be on the nonstop. How early do you arrive at the airport to get on the flight- it's scheduled to depart at 9:20am. Is two hours early too much?

GotToGetAway, We are also on LI and we just flew from JFK to STT....we got to the airport 1 1/2 hours early and we were fine. Had enough time to have some breakfast before our flight. And our flight landed a half hour early, which was awesome! Enjoy your trip...we are home a week already now -- feels like a dream that we were even there!!

Thanks so much CantWait4STJ. The car service wanted to pick us up at 5 am to catch a 9:20 am flight and that sounded crazy to me. At that time of morning it only takes us 45 minutes to get to JFK and provided we know where to go (terminal

we won't have to waste time running between terminals like last time, so I'm going to ask for a later pick up time.

Got2 - you will need more time if departing on a Sat or Sun, less if during the week. Good Luck, this is a better flight both time-wise and usually money-wise than Newark or Philly!

Just a thought,
We live in NJ and I really don't trust traffic on any morning to get us to JFK.
We stay overnight at one of the hotels that has a park and ride so we can leave the car. The next AM, we take the hotel shuttle to the airport. Much less stressful.
I am counting the days!!!

We leaving on a Tuesday, so while the airport will be less busy, the rush hour traffic will be worse. But, we will likely beat rush hour leaving so early (but I do think 5 am is unreasonable). I'm thinking 6:30 am is a good pick up time- 45-60 minutes for the car ride, then 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the airport. Since we don't have to go through any tunnels or bridges, I don't think we need to stay overnight- but it's a smart idea. Thanks all

After a few close calls with almost missing planes, and this was from Newark airport.
I would rather sit in the airport than be stuck on the highway in traffic worrying about missing our plane.
Just me.
