Two questions that have probably been asked a million times.

1) Is it better to take a longer taxi ride from the airport to Red Hook, or a shorter one to Charlotte Amelie? We get in mid-afternoon (in theory) on a Thursday.
2) Who is Ruth, and where can I find some info about her car service (do I even have the right person)? Anybody know how much it costs?
THANK YOU!!!
Our trip is suddenly REALLY SOON!

I like going to red hook, there is a terminal to wait, there is a bar in the terminal, and it is a faster ferry ride.
Ruth owns STJ Spice and is awesome but I think she would charge way too much to come to STT and get you at the airport
Rachel is a taxi driver on STT and will provide you with private taxi service to the ferry dock.
Price depends on how many people in your party.

Unless things change - and they do - the only Charlotte Amalie ferry available to you would be leaving at 5:30 pm.

Interesting little trivia... Rachel's real name is Ruth!

We really like the short cab ride to Charlotte Amalie and the longer ferry ride. However, schedule is most important, so we only use the CA ferry if the schedule will work out well. Unless we missed something, we were just standing on the dock waiting and there is no building or refreshments there. We got to see the sea plane take off, so that was fun.
The ride to Red Hook is not bad, although my husband can get queasy, so some years we have used private taxis to Red Hook. The new ferry terminal at Red Hook is nice for waiting since it has places to sit and refreshments. Very different from the dusty lot and little ticket building of old.
Have a great trip! We're going to the islands in May, but I wish I was going now since its cold and wet here.

Rachel/Ruth... cool bit of trivia! Who knew.

We like Red hook and love Rachel. Red hook for all of the aboved mentioned reasons and hubby gets queezy on the long ferry ride. (but not on other boat trips...go figure
