I just went to check in online and print our boarding passes ahead of our flight on AA out of Miami tomorrow morning, and was unable to do so. I called the airline and was told that our flight was canceled three hours or so ago. So, instead of arriving on Sunday at 1:35 PM, they can put us on a plane that leaves later on Monday, connects in San Juan, and won't arrive to STT until 5:30PM or so! Probably too late for us to catch the car barge!

I am stunned, and upset!

Here's an idea check and see if you can find a Flight into San Juan on Sunday and maybe get an early connecting flight from San Juan Monday to St. Thomas.

Augie, Continental did the same thing to us with our direct flights and never notified us. Margo told me to check our flights. They changed us to a flight leaving two days earlier and returning three days sooner!
I was able to change them to connecting flights but was on the phone for 1 1/2 hours.

It looks like AA has a bunch of connecting flights tomorrow that can get you in early evening. Didn't they offer that solution to you?

AA can get us from SHU to STT, but not from MIA to STT

There is something going on with MIA, Deb has been stuck in NOLA because of a problem in MIA. There was a fire and they can not refuel planes right now, I guess.

There was a fire in MIA yesterday that had to do with a major refueling station.

I just checked on our flight on AA after hearing about your situation. The flight times changed on both our flights (coming and going) without any notification.

Yes, AA had a fire at their refueling facility there, and are canceling tons of flights that go from there or through there. They are having to use fuel trucks instead of the automated fueling system, and a 45 minute refuel job now takes five hours.

I've proposed the options of flying out of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, or Tampa, and as of now I can't get to St. Thomas tomorrow unless I swim.

Oh well, I didn't really want to see Innervisions tomorrow night at the Beach Bar anyway...

Don't give up hope yet...I'm sorry. I know you were really looking forward to that...You'll get there eventually..and it will be that much sweeter.

I am sick to stomach right now Not only do we lose a full day of STJ beauty but what the hell do we do about missing the car barge on Monday? We tried to see if we could get flights out of Tampa, Orlando, etc but everything goes out of Miami.

I know about the fire and that would make some sense, but no notification???

Plus on the website, AA is still showing MIA flights for tomorrow... economy, no business
1845 to SJU and 4842 to STT.... 12:25 to 5:00

Now those are showing not available. So sorry!

Have you maybe considered renting the car on STJ instead?
