More than a year ago, someone on here posted a suberb trip report about their time spent on Jost. I can't recall who it was and haven't been successful with the "search" feature. Can someone help me?

I am planning my next trip to the Islands, flying out of here on Dec. 24 with a plan to spend the first week on Jost then head over to STJ for about 10 more days. I emailed Ivan's 11 days ago and haven't had a reply. I seem to recall the trip report I am thinking of talked about their efforts in actually getting people on the phone over on Jost. That will be my next plan of action this weekend.

I won't get into STT until the afternoon of Dec. 25 and it looks as if I will have missed the ferry run to Jost that day. I haven't yet looked at accommodation for 1 night on STT and am hopeful that won't be too difficult to find.

Any tips that I should take into consideration for travel at that time of year, especially on Christmas Day?

I'd like to suggest the Crystal Palace and the ever popular Ronnie Lockhart. He'll make that transition work.

I would just say call asap because that is a very busy time, especially with Old Year's Night at Foxy's, etc..so lodging will be limited. You usually won't have much luck emailing anyone in the BVI's...better to pick up the phone, for sure :D

And a one night rental anywhere during one if the 3 busiest weeks of the year is almost impossible to find so call YESTERDAY

We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas night, 2009, on St. Thomas before heading over to the BVIs for a week long sail. We wanted to stay on St. John, but I had a hard time getting rooms for just 2 nights, even though I booked really early. We ended up at Island View Guesthouse on St. Thomas, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's definitely not the Ritz, but we were so pleased with everything. When I booked the room, the owner mentioned that she usually has a minimum night stay during the holidays but holds a room or two for people like us. So glad we found the place. If we ever need to stay on St. Thomas again, I will definitely stay there.

Thanks. Only hours after posting this thread, I heard from Darlene Chinnery saying they have availability for their cabins, tents and bare sites for the week I am looking for.

Now the problem is my airline is showing zero flights out of YVR to STT for Dec. 24 (or any day in December for that matter). I planned to fly on points and only 12 days ago was getting exactly what I wanted (was just waiting to book the flight once I had confirmation of accommodation on Jost; then was going to book STJ; then the flight). No sense booking a flight if I had no place to stay. Now I am having to check multiple times a day to see if December opens up again. I think there's something wrong with the site as November shows nothing available as well. Crossing my fingers big time!

Thanks for the hints on STT accommodation. I realize finding 1 night will be difficult but it is what it is. I only need to stay for 1 night and realize I will pay a penalty for that.
