In a few days I'll be on my way to STJ for the second time. Last time I flew on Seaborne from Puerto Rico, so this is my first time flying commerical -- American Airlines.

I read on this forum to pick up a customs form when I arrive, to speed up check-in on departure day.

Also read to pre-print boarding pass. Can anyone recommend a place to do that? Connections, perhaps? I do not have access to a printer where I am staying. How important is it to do this ahead of time?

Any other departure day suggestions. I have a 9:15 am flight, so need it to go smoothly.

Regarding ferry -- where does the Charlotte Amalie ferry leave from? Can someone provide a landmark? Is the process similar to Red Hook process (ticketing, loading, etc)?

As far as departing goes, one way to make things really smooth is to hire a porter when you get to the airport. Just approach one of the guys hanging around with the luggage dollies and ask them to help you out. If you do this, you won't have to preprint a boarding pass. The porter will take your passport and bags, and go get it for you (in other words, you will skip the long line of people waiting to check in at the airline counter). They cannot skip you in the customs line anymore, but when we came home recently we were able to bypass the regular security line--after clearing customs we were directed down a hallway to a seperate scanning area. I don't know if this is standard now, but it sure saved us waiting in a long line! Totally worth the $20 I gave the porter.

You have to walk around to the front entrance of the airport and ask for the custom forms from someone at one of the ticketing windows.

The CA ferry leaves from the dock that is right across the street from the Danish Mall in town. There's a bus stop looking structure where the ferry ties up. The Visitor's Center is right across the street - yellow building with blue shutters. No place to purchase tickets, you just get on and pay on the ferry.
