I'm sure this has been addressed before, but if you have a 5:30 flight out of STT and no luggage to check do you really have to be there TWO hours ahead of the flight?

It may very well depend on the time of year and day of the week that you're traveling.

Off season mid week, we've found that getting there that early leaves us a long time to sit in the terminal.

That being said, I'd rather get there earlier than I need to, and read a book or people watch while I relax and wait for my flight than be stressed about whether we'd get through the lines in time.

I've never traveled there at this time of year (yet) so someone else who has would probably be able to better advise you as to how early/late you should arrive at the airport.

This is a real busy week because of President's Day. I know the temptation is to squeeze every last minute out of a vacation, but I'd just go ahead and get there early. Not worth the consequences if they're backed up or a scanner goes down for a little while.

Also, if there a number of cruise ships in port, the drive to the airport could take longer than expected.

I would be there 1.5 hours ahead so be there by 4pm if I had already checked in and had boarding pass in hand.
