Place for one night on St John

I was hoping someone could help me decide where to stay for one night on St John. We booked our trip for May way back in June of last year. Well, Continental Airlines has cancelled our mid week flight and pushed us back to a Sunday flight. I was able to change our villa since they had Monday and Tuesday open but we need a place to stay for Sunday. It's my husband and I and our 21 year old daughter and her friend. I'd love to stay at Gallows Point but just can't see spending almost $500 for one night. Has anyone stayed at St John Inn? I know there is a new Boutique Hotel that just opened but they are booked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

Would you consider staying on St. Thomas for that night? It would break up your travel a bit, and you can head over to St. John in the late morning, when you car should be available and the villa will be ready.

I'd really rather stay on St John. We usually go with a large group of adults and we go for 8 days and always stay the first night on St Thomas. This is my daughters first trip and it's shorter than usual so I'd really rather spend it all on St John. Estate Lindhom is another nice hotel but again, it's booked.

This place is new and looks cute and clean.
It was started up this year by a young couple in Cruz Bay

If you cannot find something cheaper than the Gallows rate, you can stay at Caneel Bay in a courtside room for the same price. I checked and they have availability and allow one night stays. The rate includes their breakfast buffet, which is really good. Checkout is at noon, but you can stay as long as you like. They will hold your bags for you in a locked room, and there are showers that you can use when you are ready to leave if you want to. A first day spent snorkeling Caneel's beautiful beaches would be a great start to your vacation!

Great idea about Caneel. We always spend one day there anyway. However, they only allow 3 to a room.

Place to stay...

I stayed at St. John Inn for a couple of nights two years ago. It is very basic and rather dated, but it was clean. I would do it again if I had to, in a case such as yours. Just don't expect much.

Try vrbo (or contact directly) for Grande Bay -- if they have an opening they might do one night! Many of the 1 BR units have a pull out sofa!

Have stayed at St John inn and tamarind court both for a night or two. Both about the same level of accommodations, basic and clean. Tamarinds a little closer to "downtown". Not sure if either has rooms for 4 if that's what you want? I probably have pictures somewhere. I think the people at stjinn were friendlier but that's maybe that's just because we had more interaction with them. When we stayed at tamarind we didn't see anybody checking in, they pinned our keys to the cork board and we didn't see anybody checking out either. Pretty laid back.

Maho Tent Cottages? I think it about $115 for 4 for one night in May.

We are hoping to stay at the new place in Cruz
Bay, but if it is not available we are looking at
Aqua Bay Villas. It cost a little more because you
have to pay a cleaning fee if you are only staying one night. It looks nice.
